And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell in to a ring of fire
I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher.
The ring of fire
The ring of fire.
The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like our's meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh, but the fire went wild
I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher.
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire.
The song Ring of Fire, by Ruthie Foster, has become a classic with its famous refrain "And it burns, burns, burns, the ring of fire." The song is a musical representation of the idea that love can be both exhilarating and dangerous at the same time. The lyrics use a metaphor of a burning ring of fire to describe the intense feeling of romantic love.
The first verse describes the feeling of falling in love: "Love is a burning thing, and it makes a fiery ring." The ring of fire symbolizes the boundless passion of two people who have given themselves over to the flames of love, leaving behind common sense and self-preservation. The singer admits to "falling into" the ring of fire, which implies both surrender and a lack of control. The second verse portrays the consequences of such love: "I fell for you like a child, oh, but the fire went wild." The fire that was once contained within the ring has now gone out of control, consuming everything in its path.
The chorus repeats the phrase "the ring of fire," emphasizing the all-consuming power of love, both in its intensity and in its capability to destroy. The verses and chorus together paint a vivid picture of the dangers and exhilaration of love, with all its consuming passion and recklessness.
