In 2005, he released his sophomore album, "Bedtime Stories & Fairytales." While, still pertaining to similar subject matter as his debut record, Bedtime Stories is light hearted with simple and catchier melodies.
In 2006, Ryan put a band together consisting of long time friend, Sean Cimino (electric guitar), Tyler Chester (bass, keys), and Dan Bailey (drums, percussion). They tracked the album, "As Long As We're Laying The Cards On The Table" in September of 2006, but before the record was mixed, the files were corrupted and the album was lost.
After a year of debate whether or not to re-track the album, a new one was written, and the "Cards" record was left to be nothing but a handful of unmixed studio sessions.
Ryan Baxley and his band, which features new drummer, Aaron Redfield, went into the studio in September 2007 to record their first collective record, "Lessons I've Learned."
One track from this album can be found on the "EP4FREE" record, as well as 2 acoustic tracks from the unreleased "Cards" record. "Lessons I've Learned" is expected to be released in mid 2008.
This Hour of Loneliness
Ryan Baxley Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
But now this is what we need
I think we should take some time
To find out where we should be
A single month's not too long
I'm sure we can make it through
This hour of loneliness
Go home and read the good book
And think upon what you read
Follow what Jesus has said
And try not not think about me
This may not be what we want
But now this is what we need
I think we should take some time
To find out where we should be
A single month's not too long
I'm sure we can make it through
This hour of loneliness
It's so hard not to think about you
Go home and read the good book
And think upon what you read
Follow what Jesus has said
And try not not think about me
Follow what Jesus has said
And try not not think about me
Try not not think about me
Try not not think about me
In These Hour of Loneliness, Ryan Baxley portrays the sense of confusion and struggle that one might experience after a breakup. The lyrics highlight the fact that taking time off from a relationship might be painful but might be necessary to come up with a clear perspective on the situation. The singer urges his/her partner to go home and read the good book and contemplate on the teachings of Jesus while trying not to think about him/her. The lyrics subtly indicate that the relationship might not have been what they wanted, but it was what they needed at that point in their life.
The chorus of the song encourages the listener to believe that they can make it through the hour of loneliness, and time away from the partner would pave the way for a brighter future. The singer's advice to focus on religious teachings adds a different dimension to the song and suggests that during troubled times, people turn to faith and spirituality to find solace. The song's ending repeats the refrain, "Follow what Jesus has said and try not to think about me," indicating that sometimes, distance is the best way to deal with a painful situation.

I don't know why it's so difficult for me
To talk to somebody I don't know
Well I've tried to ask you out about a thousand times
In my head, you just always say no
And I don't care at all, I'll drink some alcohol
It'll make me who I really wanna be
But I'm that kind of special person that drinks too much
Cause nobody understands me
Because everybody's got somebody, everybody but me
Why can't anybody just tell me that I'm somebody's?
I'm gonna lock myself inside my room, with this 40 ounce on repeat
I thought that if I cleaned up my act
It'll help me understand exactly who I am
But I hate to say that it just don't work like that
Cause I'm a special individual I don't need no plan
But I got bills to pay, and I got pills to take
Cause I'm born and raised in the USA
And I'll just scream and shout, that I'll never sell out
I'll never sell out, man!
Wait, how much?
Because everybody's got more money, they got more money than me
Why can't anybody just give me some more money?
Because everybody's got somebody, everybody but me
Why can't anybody just tell me that I'm somebody's?
I'm gonna lock myself inside my room, with the television on repeat
Because everybody's got somebody, everybody but me
Why can't anybody just tell me that I'm somebody's?
Because everybody's got somebody, everybody but me
Why can't anybody just tell me that I'm somebody's?

@Austin48HD
I was listening to a radio interview with Zac the other day and the station asked him "Why are FIDLAR's songs always so funny" and he simply replied "The band is collectively like that one kid in school that is super happy on the outside and makes everyone one laugh, but on the inside is super depressed". After that I though back to when I went to see them live and briefly met Zac (Super nice dude, btw), I remember the smile he had when I told him that I loved FIDLAR's sound and how excited I was for the new album. I feel like the small things like that really mean a lot to these guys.
