Dying Inside
Ryan Joy Lyrics

Reaching out with such uncertainty
And I pretend to be something that I'm not
But I will find my way, yes I'll find my way
(A brand new world)
The one who'll make me see (everything)
What I am inside
I hide behind this fake smile
Pretend to be okay
But deep down I'm dying inside
I'm dying inside
You hide behind your fake smile
Pretend to be okay
But deep down you're dying inside
Dying inside
I wish I could go back to yesterday
When everything was okay
And I pretend to be something that I'm not
I will find my way
I hide behind this fake smile
Deep down I'm dying inside
You hide behind your fake smile
Deep down we're dying inside
Dying inside
I hide behind this fake smile
Pretend to be okay
But deep down I'm dying inside
I'm dying inside
You hide behind your fake smile
Pretend to be okay
But deep down you're dying inside
Dying inside
In Ryan Joy's song "Dying Inside," the lyrics express a sense of internal conflict and hiding one's true self behind a facade. This is conveyed through the repetition of the phrase "I hide behind this fake smile, pretend to be okay, but deep down I'm dying inside." The singer acknowledges that they are not being true to themselves and are uncertain about how others will perceive them if they reveal their true self. The phrase "Will you ever see the real me, reaching out with such uncertainty" further emphasizes the idea of feeling exposed and unsure when trying to reveal one's true self to others.
The lyrics also express a longing for a sense of understanding and acceptance from others. This is shown through the line "The one who'll make me see everything, what I am inside," indicating a desire for someone to understand and accept the singer for who they truly are. However, the fear of rejection and vulnerability is evident in the line "I don't want to fight such selfishness."
Overall, the lyrics of "Dying Inside" convey a sense of internal struggle and the difficulty of being true to oneself in a society that often values conformity.
