Breathe
Ryan Star Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's fine, most of the time
She takes her days with a smile
She moves like a dancer in lights
Spinning around to the sound
Sometimes she falls down

Breathe, just breathe
Take the world off your shoulders
And put it on me
Breathe, just breathe
Let the life that you live
Be all that you need

She likes New York at night
She dreams of running away
Shine on, bright like the sun
When even the sky turns gray
I need you to hear me say
I need you to hear me say

Breathe, just breathe
Take the world off your shoulders
And put it on me
Breathe, just breathe
Let the life that you live
Be all that you need

Let go of the fear
Let go of the doubt
Let go of the ones
Who to try to put you down
You're gonna be fine
Don't hold it inside
If you hurt right now
Then let it all come out

Breathe, just breathe
Take the world off your shoulders
And put it on me
Breathe, just breathe
Let the life that you live
Be all that you need

Breathe, just breathe
Take the world off your shoulders
And put it on me
Breathe, just breathe

Let the life that you can
Be all that you need

Overall Meaning

The song "Breathe" by Ryan Star is a message of hope and encouragement for a struggling loved one. The opening lines reveal that the subject of the song is someone who appears to be strong and resilient most of the time but occasionally falls down. The singer urges this person to take a break from the world and lean on him for support by repeating the simple yet powerful refrain, "Breathe, just breathe."

Throughout the song, the singer emphasizes the importance of letting go of fear and doubt and not allowing others to bring you down. Instead, he encourages the listener to focus on the life they're living and embrace it fully. The line "Let the life that you live be all that you need" is particularly poignant and reminds us to appreciate what we have instead of always striving for more.

There's a certain vulnerability in the singer's voice as he shares his message of support, and the bridge feels like a release of emotion as he implores the listener to let it all out if they're hurting. Ultimately, the song is a reminder that we all need help sometimes, and that it's okay to lean on those we love for support.

I seriously can’t believe this song wasnt a raging hit in 2010. I always remembered the music video coming on in the morning before school. I truly adore this

His music isn't very well known at all. If it wasn't for that INXS show I'd never heard of him.

Brought me to tears. No surprise, Ryan's voice expresses a soul. Which is so refreshing to hear and feel.

Ryan and the gang... I can't say enough great things about you guys at the show tonight... I often dread the opening acts of concerts... it's hard for me to get into "new" music... well what a great surprise... I knew some of their songs and had no idea they sang them. But the icing on the cake is truly how great the guys are. My experience with them (both in person and in the audience) has absolutely made a HUGE fan out of me. Thanks guys!

This song is awesome, is helping me a lot in my recovery of depression and anxiety... and my physician has told me that life is about leaving your troubles behind and leaving all the weight you carry inside.

I'm so glad this song is out here for people to hear. It is truly inspirational. It always makes me feel better and it lets me know that I have people around me that will always be there for me. :) <3

I absolutely love this song (: It relieves so many people to hear this song. Many artists now a days have lost that true art of music, of sending those valuable messages. Ryan Star has done it.

It's a shame, you know, this guy has truly amazing songs, yet he isn't that popular. But I'm really glad that there are people who still know what real music is.

I love this song, and it is especially poignant right now, because I just found out that a friend of mine has a wife who just lost her job. Their family is struggling right now, and this song can at least offer some much needed comfort, just by showing that she is not alone.
