LAST TRAIN HOME
Ryan Star Lyrics

Stand in the light,
I need to see you,
Uncover my eyes.
The tears coming down,
Making lines on your face.
One for each year, now
We were only kids,
We ran like water.
Your dad said,
Stay away from my daughter.
The sun was coming down when I said,
Can't you just believe?
And if you wait for me,
I'll be the light in the dark if you lose your way.
And if you wait for me,
I'll be your voice when you don't know what to say.
I'll be your shelter,
I'll be your fate.
I'll be forever,
Wait for me.
I'll be the last train,
I'll be the last train home.
You were a storm,
It blew us away.
I wouldn't leave you,
But you couldn't stay.
We were only kids,
We ran like water.
Your dad said,
Stay away from my daughter.
The sun was coming down when I said,
Can't you just believe?
And if you wait for me,
I'll be the light in the dark if you lose your way.
And if you wait for me,
I'll be your voice when you don't know what to say.
I'll be your shelter,
I'll be your fate.
I'll be forever,
Wait for me.
I'll be the last train,
I'll be the last train home.
We were only kids,
We ran like water.
I told your dad,
I love your daughter.
The sun was coming down when I said,
Hallie just believe.
And if you wait for me,
I'll be the light in the dark if you lose your way.
And if you wait for me,
I'll be your voice when you don't know what to say.
I'll be your shelter,
I'll be your fate.
I'll be forever,
Wait for me.
I'll be the last train,
I'll be the last train,
Hold on to love,
And wait for me.
I'll be the last train,
I'll be the last train home.
I'll be the last train,
I'll be your last train home.
The song "Last Train Home" by Ryan Star is a sentimental and emotional ballad that explores the idea of long lost love and the vow of returning to it. In the first stanza, the singer describes the moment of reunion with his past lover, where he asks her to stand in the light so he can see her and asks her to uncover his eyes. It is clear that he has been longing to see her and reminisce about old times that they had shared. He also takes note of the tears rolling down her face and compares them to lines on her face, indicating that she might have been through a lot in his absence. He then recalls the time when they were young and in love, but due to some obstacles, they had to be apart, and he wants to make amends for the lost time.
In the chorus, the singer promises to be the light in the dark and the voice for his lost love whenever she's in need. He offers to be her shelter and fate, indicating that he will always be there for her through thick and thin. The repetition of the line, "Wait for me" is the ultimate promise of his love and devotion and a request for her to hold on until they can be together again.
The song carries a poignant message about the idea of returning to what we love and cherish. It’s a reminder that no matter how hard or how far life can take us, we always have a chance to make a change and bring back what we once held dear. And even if our past love seemed out of reach, there’s always hope for a second chance.
