Losing your Memory
Ryan Star Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory, now
Call all your friends
And tell them you're never coming back
Cause this is the end
Don't react
The damage is done
The police are coming too slow now
I would have died
I would have loved you all my life
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory, now
Where have you gone,
The beach is so cold in winter here
And where have I gone,
I wake in Montauk with you near
Remember the day
Cause this is what dreams should always be
I just want to stay
I just want to keep this dream in me
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory
Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up
All the best of what we've done is yet to come
Wake up, it's time, little girl, wake up
Just remember who I am in the morning
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory now
You're losing your memory
You're losing your memory now
The song "Losing Your Memory" by Ryan Star is a powerful and emotional ballad about the pain of losing someone you love, both physically and emotionally. The repetitive chorus of "you're losing your memory now" suggests that the person being addressed is struggling with memory loss or a fading memory of their relationship. The verses, however, convey a sense of finality and closure, as the singer urges the person to call their friends and tell them they're never coming back. The line "pretend that you want it, don't react" suggests that the decision to leave has already been made, and the person is struggling to come to terms with it.
The second verse introduces a new setting, the beach in winter, and a sense of nostalgia for a past relationship. The dreamlike quality of the lyrics and the repetition of the phrase "I just want to keep this dream in me" suggests that the singer is trying to hold onto a memory of a perfect moment or a perfect relationship, but knows that it is slipping away.
