Dim the lights home
Whisky lemon
Let the time go
Way slow
Let the records play low
Like the sun goes way low
Now lay low, oh
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Slow day but I pass the time
Coffee and a half a pack
Said I'm thinking about you and I
Took a while but you hittin' me back
And you know
I get so sick of the telephone
I cry and you cry
And then I thank you
Tell me if your day was rough
And then you let me make it right
King size, passenger size
Let's ride
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Let the night come
Dim the lights home
Whisky lemon
Let the time go
Way slow
Let the records play low
Like the sun goes way low
Lay me down, now
Lay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Stay low
Slow day but I pass the time
Coffee and a half a pack
Said I'm thinking about you and I
Took a while but you hittin' me back
And you know
And you know
And you know
Stay low
The song "Stay Low" by Ryn Weaver is a melancholic track that conveys the feelings of loneliness, longing, and the desire to escape from the world. The song opens with a suggestion to let go of the night and dim the lights at home. The use of whiskey and lemon reinforces the introspective, melancholic mood that the song projects. The melancholy tone of the song is further emphasized in the second stanza where the singer is portrayed as passing time slowly by drinking coffee with only half a pack of cigarettes.
The chorus, "Stay low" is repeated several times in the song, signifying the singer's need to stay low, to remain hidden from the world. The singer is contemplating about someone in the second verse and, surprisingly, the person is responsive after some delay. The telephone, which is a communication symbol, is mentioned in the third verse, and it becomes apparent that the singer and the person she has been thinking about have only emotional conversations, as they express their feelings, cry and console each other. In the end, the singer invites the other person to ride with her, possibly indicating that the two characters' existential isolation could be overcome by being together.
