In March 2010 she released her debut EP Theater Island which was followed by her first full-length We Sink, released on September 2, 2011 - a pop record, that sounds like a dream: sweet and weird at the same time. Critical response was largely positive, with praise often aimed at the "delightful and beautiful" piano play and the delicate vocal delivery. The songwriting was also celebrated for its "dream-like" quality and "dark surrealism". Sóley herself described her lyrics as "Dreamy, surrealistic and in their own world", expressing her hope that listeners will decipher their own meaning from the words.
A piano album composed and performed entirely by Sóley, entitled Krómantík (Chrome Antiques), was released on 18 July,2014. Work is already underway on a second LP as well, which is to be released sometime in 2015. And Sóley hopes to tour the world after some planned appearances in Iceland Media and a music festival.

I will use my garden army to hide you all from them
Sóley's song "Fight Them Soft" is a hauntingly beautiful track that speaks to human relationships and the lengths that we may go to protect our loved ones. The lyrics "Soon they will be here to take me away from my home, I will use my garden army to hide you all from them" expresses a sense of impending doom and the urgency to protect one's loved ones at all costs. The lyric "garden army" is a metaphor for the strength and protection that the singer has built around their loved ones. It is interesting to note that the language the singer uses is a subtle reference to war- evoking the idea of an army hiding in trenches and waiting to defend their territory.
There is also a sense of vulnerability in the lyrics as the singer is aware that their time is running out and that their safety will not last forever. This further emphasizes the depth of the singer's love for those around them and the desire to protect and shield them from harm. The song carries a somber tone and the repetition of the phrase "fight them soft" highlights the idea of fighting for love without being aggressive, forceful, or violent.
Overall, Sóley's "Fight Them Soft" is a powerful and emotive piece that speaks to the lengths we can go to protect our loved ones.

I love Sóley so much..... Have memorised at least seven of her songs because I listen to them so much....... There are so many possible meanings to her songs, and whenever I listen to her songs I think about them..... I believe I have decided upon the meaning of Smashed Birds to be about mourning a loved one ( most likely a husband ). The type of mourning where the person still left on earth feels so angry at the person who died, hence the destroying of things that where dear to the departed.

I feel that some fans of lesser known songs can be a bit selfish. The fact that it's so beautiful makes me wish she had more recognition, accolades and money, not happy that she is holed up in my mp3 player and in the lesser visited parts of YouTube, safe from the world's knowledge and the success she rightly deserves.
