In March 2010 she released her debut EP Theater Island which was followed by her first full-length We Sink, released on September 2, 2011 - a pop record, that sounds like a dream: sweet and weird at the same time. Critical response was largely positive, with praise often aimed at the "delightful and beautiful" piano play and the delicate vocal delivery. The songwriting was also celebrated for its "dream-like" quality and "dark surrealism". Sóley herself described her lyrics as "Dreamy, surrealistic and in their own world", expressing her hope that listeners will decipher their own meaning from the words.
A piano album composed and performed entirely by Sóley, entitled Krómantík (Chrome Antiques), was released on 18 July,2014. Work is already underway on a second LP as well, which is to be released sometime in 2015. And Sóley hopes to tour the world after some planned appearances in Iceland Media and a music festival.

Come back
My feet will move until I lie
Down there
My soul will dance over your house
Your house will never smile again
Take all your memories
‘cause you need to run away
The dance is not over
Remember, light your house on fire
Be quiet don't wake up the fear
It's sleeping, put your fear in the bag
Hurry now, close it, laugh and leave.
Take all your memories
Put them in your bag
‘cause you need to run away
the dance is not over
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance for us, dance for us, dance for us, fear
Dance with us, dance with us, dance with us, fear
The song "Dance" by Sóley delves into the theme of escapism, particularly through dancing. The songstress begins by expressing that she dances to escape her fears, and she does not stop till she falls down. She notes that her soul dances over someone's house and adds that their house will never smile again, suggesting something terrible might have happened to them. The songstress then advises whoever is listening to the song to run away with their memories, put their fears in a bag, and leave to dance some more as the dance is not yet over.
In the second verse, Sóley advises the listeners to burn their houses down and be quiet so as not to wake up their fears that may be sleeping. She again advises that they put their fears in a bag, hurry up, close it, laugh, and leave. The obsession with dancing and escaping through it seems apparent as she continuously asks the Fear to dance and then tells it to dance with them. This action reinforces the idea that dancing has therapeutic value and is a means to escape from life's troubles.
Therefore, "Dance" by Sóley is quite a powerful song that encourages one to keep dancing, and it is a tribute to the idea of continuously moving forward, even in difficult times. It reminds the listener to escape their fears in a healthy manner, and not to retreat to self-destructive thoughts or behavior.
