San Domingo
Sława Przybylska Lyrics

O o

Są fale lśniące jak księżyc
Są ptaki małe jak iskra
Jest dzwonków ostry brzęk
I bębenków szybki rytm pośród drzew

O o

Są brzegi które pamiętam
I ścieżka którą znów pójdę
Jest w głębi serca pieśń
Dniem i nocą żywy głos ziemi mej
O

O San Domingo
Wyspo nagłych burz i miłości
Już płynie już rośnie
Obraz twój w niebieskiej mgle
O graj mi calypso
Śpiewaj starą pieśń karnawału
Choć wichrów sto wiało
Znowu widzę bliski brzeg

Kto nie zna czasu rozłąki
I wielkiej serca tęsknoty
Niech milczy kiedy pieśń
Pod żaglami białych chmur płynie w dal
O

Kto widział oczy dziewczyny
Gdy morze chłopca zabiera
Niech śpiewa prostą pieśń
Niech zagłuszy gniewny szum morskich fal

O

O graj mi calypso
Śpiewaj starą pieśń karnawału
Choć wichrów sto wiało
Znowu widzę bliski brzeg

O o

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sława Przybylska's song "San Domingo" paint a vivid picture of a tropical paradise, filled with shimmering waves, small birds, and the sharp chime of bells. The rhythm of the drums echoes through the trees, creating a lively atmosphere. The singer reminisces about the familiar shores and the path she will walk again, deep in her heart, a song resounds day and night, giving voice to the spirit of her land. The chorus celebrates the island of San Domingo as a place of sudden storms and love, with its image growing in the misty blue. The singer requests the calypso music to be played and the old carnival song to be sung, despite the many winds that have blown, she sees the shore she holds dear once again.

The second verse speaks to the longing caused by separation and the greatness of the heart. The singer urges those who do not know the time of longing and separation to remain silent when the song sails away on the white clouds under the moonlight. The bridge further emphasizes the power of the ocean, as it takes away a boy while a girl's eyes watch. The suggested response is to sing a simple song to drown out the angry rush of the sea.

Overall, "San Domingo" is a nostalgic and longing-filled song that celebrates the beauty of the island and captures the emotions tied to separation and love.

W każdym razie wzruszyło mnie - i dziękuję?
