God
S.F.A. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One day you'll all die
All your lives were just a lie
No escaping death, you can't run away
Lie to yourselves and blindly pray
Try to hide, you just won't see
There is no God, there's only me

Fuck your religion
I'll burn your churches down
I spit on your priests
And piss on your sacred ground
You're so fucking brainwashed
You just can't see
If you need something to believe in

You can worship me
I am my own God

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of S.F.A.'s "God" convey a message of disbelief in a higher power and a rejection of religious institutions. The first line establishes a sense of ultimate finality and inevitability in death, dismissing the idea of an afterlife or any divine intervention. The following lines criticize the idea of living a life based on faith and blind devotion, urging individuals to question their own beliefs and not simply follow a predetermined system. The refrain "There is no God, there's only me" embodies a self-reliant and potentially nihilistic perspective, emphasizing one's own power and dismissing the supernatural.

The following stanza attacks organized religion more explicitly, with graphic language referencing the burning and desecration of churches and religious leaders. The singer's tone is aggressive and confrontational, questioning the validity of those who have been indoctrinated into these belief systems. He suggests that perhaps those individuals would be better suited worshipping himself, turning the idea of a higher power onto its head and utilizing it for his own benefit.

The lyrics of "God" are reflective of a moment in time, when punk and hardcore music was often used as a means of political and social commentary. The song's message reflects a broader cultural shift away from organized religion and blind faith, and a more individualistic and skeptical attitude.

I fell like a lot of people don't realize the brilliance of this band. Many just catch a few funny songs. Most don't realize to the band being amazing and Gruffa great unique lyrics (and they get more impressive the more you listen to them).

@J69er

Very underrated band !

Gotta love this band. Fuzzy logic's in my top 5 90's albums and are a spellbinding act live.

@madforit2

I know very little about the band apart from a handful of songs. I saw them play live in 2000 at a festival in Ireland having only heard 2 songs prior and was blown away. Unbelievable live

@carlpott2961

They never got better than the 1st half of the first album, but that was enough. Plus this vid is all kinds of brilliance.
