Kattegat
S.I.M Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Jyderne til kat
via viasat
vi har sat en kat
midt i Kattegat
på et brædt
åh at få fat
og få fanget fisk
nu hvor der er tilbud du ka let
køre torsken træt
ikke tænke tænke du ka tik
trække tråden ud
trylle du ka ta og vise tæer på agrene
eller hvis du vil
nattesøvn
op i røven
skønhedssøvn når kat er løv'n
tipslørdag ebber ud sig kat sig kat
sí sí

Du bandt mig
jeg lod dig
og bandt dig
du forstod mig
mmm så sandt som uuh
et vissent hår

Sjælene besat
via viasat
vi har sat en kat...

Jeg groede mig
et år
du fandt mig
og sagde nåårh
nu vil jeg gerne ud
og sige mjååååårrv
yeah!

Hundene til kat

via viasat
vi har sat en kat...

Overall Meaning

The song "Kattegat" by S.I.M starts with the line "Jyderne til kat via Viasat", which means "Jutlanders to the cat via Viasat". Viasat is a satellite and cable television company, and Jutland is a region in Denmark. So, it seems that the song is about Jutlanders heading to the sea (Kattegat) with the help of Viasat to catch fish. The song talks about putting a cat in the middle of Kattegat on a board to catch fish easily. The lyrics mention how one can easily catch fish now that there is an offer available, and they can easily drive the fish tired and draw the strings out. The song also talks about how one can show their toes on the fields and enjoy a beauty sleep when the cat is gone from the sea.

The second verse of the song talks about how two people were tied, but one person understood the other person's feelings because they bound each other. The song then repeats the earlier lines about Jutlanders to the cat via Viasat, and putting a cat in the middle of Kattegat on a board to catch fish easily. It seems like the song is a metaphor for something else that is not directly related to catching fish. It could be interpreted in many different ways based on the listener's perception.

It's a weird feeling going up against your old man.

As a teenager I was quite volatile, violent. I fought a lot, I especially fought bigger and older men than myself, truth be told I got my ass kicked a lot but I was never scared.

And my dad, he's not a large man, not a particularly threatening person and I didn't fear him in the slightest, not by the time I was 16.

One day I lost my shit, and long story short my old man came out of no where, grabbed me by the throat and put me against the wall.

All my instincts went out the door. Part of me wanted to hit him, part of me knew I could hurt him but the other part of me didn't want too, loved him, respected him. I just stood there quiet, stunned.

I was a really conflicted person, but actually that day helped me resolve a lot of my issues. I learned that I respected my old man more than I thought and I learned that I could restrain myself.

I think ubbe is like that here. He is really angry and probably knows he could put up a good fight but struggles with the love and respect he has for ragnar.

Funny you say that I had the same experience i was a little older tho around 18..... I used to enjoy fighting would go out of my way at bars to find them. Won some lost some broke my nose 3 times lol ( should have learned to stop leading with my face lol ) Never really had much emotion tho wasnt scared just love the adrenaline rush.

But one night i came home from a friends house and the Tv was on i took the remote and started watching it my dad came down from the shower said gimme the remote i was watching that, My response was no you werent it was empty needless to say it got heated he came at me i threw him on a the coffee table it was instinct but when i realized what i had done i backed up in shock and he threw 2 punches at me i backed away from both and didn't swing back just kinda realised what was happening, was one of those oh shit i didnt mean to do that im sorry moments, then he threw the kitchen table and broke all the dishes on it then told me to clean it up.

Without even thinking about it i started to pick up the broken glass.

Its very different when its your father even if you no very well you can beat him your emotions take over and like you said you don't want to you love him even if you think you don't you respect him even if you think you don't and you really don't want to hurt him.

This doesnt go for everyone obviously but i think for the most part when your father is standing infront of you challenging you somethign inside of you even if you no you can win no contest forces you to back down.

This is the difference between someone who’s been to war and someone who hasn’t. One has seen so much death that he is not scared of anything and the other has only talked about it and heard about it and plays about it. You can tell a big difference in the army between those who have been deployed and those who haven’t. This scene was awesome. The guy who played Ragnar should get an award he was great in this series.

MattJack

You aren't lying about that! There was definitely a noticeable difference in the Army between those who were deployed and those werent/hadn't been yet.

Gabegboyd123

He wanted to prove the Seer wrong. That was his reason for testing them.

HC LW

Ragnar is prepared for death. He wouldnt have minded if one of his sons had killed him and became king because he knew he had abandoned his duty as king

Ashwin Raphael

The way he shouted "DO IT" and everyone shrieked 😂
