Where Is The Love
S.O.A. Feat. Gary Des'Etages Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I love my love, and well she knows
I love the ground whereon she goes
I wish the day soon would come
When she and I will be as one

And black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I go to the Clyde and mourn and weep
But satisfied I never shall be
I'll write her a letter with a few short lines
And suffer death a thousand times

And black is the color of my true love's hair
Her lips are like some roses fair
She has the sweetest smile the gentlest hands
And I love the ground whereon she stands

I love the ground whereon she stands
I love the ground whereon she stands

Overall Meaning

The song "Where is the love" by S.O.A. Feat. Gary Des'Etages is a track that discusses the struggles and issues faced in the inner city life. The lyrics focus on the harsh realities of growing up surrounded by violence, poverty, and drugs. The first verse talks about how the community is trying to maintain life despite the challenges they face. They are aware of everything around them, from people's angles to the presence of angels. The violence and drug dealing are killing the children, and the singer urges the mothers to protect their kids. They have to clean the blood off their sneakers before going to school, and unfortunately, they never get to learn important life skills as there is no shop class for them. The only thing they have learned is how to use weapons, and they say "fuck 12" (cops) when they encounter them. Living in such an environment, the hunger becomes unbearable, and the people sell whatever it takes to survive, even if it's drugs. The singer mentions the possibility of being a killer, and it's unclear if they did it, but they are premeditating their future actions.

The chorus talks about how people seem to express their love only after someone is gone, and the singer wants to make sure to right their wrongs before leaving this earth. The media portrays the addiction that plagues the inner city people, and it's hard to escape the reality when it's at every corner. The singer wants to clear their mind, so they smoke weed, and they think about those who have passed. The verse ends with a line about kicking a shell casing, which is a symbol of the violence around them.

The final verse touches on the financial struggles faced by the community. They claim other people's kids on their taxes and keep their money in sneaker boxes or mattresses instead of banks. Buying the latest Nikes is more important than investing in their future. The oppression they face is effortless, and the education system has failed to bring them joy. The singer becomes the new messiah, applying force to bring change. They describe their art as watercolor paintings, describing their experiences that people can confide in. They rally behind their community and promise to stand by them.

Stunning apartment and space, regarding the interior design however,
The main living room:
I would have plants everywhere, some even hanging from the super high ceiling making it look like a jungle. Maybe even have a green wall. Apart from the views, It’s too minimal, cold and actually very boring. The decor lacks character. Understandable because it’s a show apartment. Otherwise sublime views of course and exquisite materials.
Being in New York I would’ve made the interior walls brick to give it the real NYC loft vibe, but in the sky! How cool would that be? The buyer should get creative. It could be a fantastic and imaginative combination of both worlds. Make it truly unique. Right now is it looks like a super chic office building reception area with expensive furniture.

Fantastic Video. Thanks Enes and team

I have an idea @enesyilmazer:

It would be cool to make a short informal video shot on IPhone around the house to compliment these videos for fun,it would make an alternative view and perception on the scale of the place!

Teserkkurler!
