Put Love First
S.S.T. Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's the crack of noon
And I sit here watching you sleeping
I only wish that I could remember your name
But I know it's written on a matchbook somewhere
And maybe I'll find it, and maybe I'll care
Or maybe your'll fix me with one of those stares
And put up a fight
So when you awake I admit I'm relieved
When you flash me a smile like a diamond
And just for a moment I almost believe
In love at first light

I propose a breakfast of coffee and aspirin
You laugh, suggesting a raw egg or two
But oh was it ever so good being bad?
Like a couple of vampires, deliciously mad
Saying this is the best blood that we've ever had
So we drank it all night
And it we untangle the webs that we weave
Then maybe there's room for more laughter
Cause just for a moment I almost believe
In love at first light

Feeling cold
You put a robe 'round my shoulders
Smile and pull one of your favorite books form my shelf
Let's opens the curtains and let out the dark
And if the sun doesn't melt us and there's still a spark
And we do something human like walk in the park
The spark could ignite
So maybe I'm moonstruck, or maybe naive
But I know there's a God and a Devil

So maybe I'm crazy enough to believe
In love at first light

Overall Meaning

The song Put Love First by S.S.T. Band is a reflection of a moment of intimacy between two people who had engaged in a night of passionate love-making. The lyrics depict a scene where the singer watches his lover sleeping, and though he is unsure of her name, he feels connected to her in a way that makes him almost believe in love at first sight. The narrative then continues as the two explore their connection deeper as they share breakfast and laugh at their shared experience. The song highlights how the couple came together, exploring their desires and fears until they found a spark of love that ignites their journey together.

The song is beautifully crafted to convey emotions over actions. The lyrics touch on the theme of loneliness, with the singer searching for connection and finding it in a moment of intimacy. The song explores the different facets of love: the excitement, the fear, the uncertainty, and the power of human connection. It is an invitation to embrace one's emotions and to surrender to the unknown, to put love first and navigate the complexities of relationships with open hearts.

Simon obviously know what is doing. He always knows what is doing. He’s the master of putting groups together !!

Nicole and Louis invented one direction. Watch the video. Simon barely had anything to do with it.

I love how the girls weren’t annoyed with Ash joining their group and they helped her and encouraged her to take her second chance

Jennifer Caron

It’s seemed like they were pushing her a little though

Alex F

You misunderstood. They weren't annoyed because her joining them HELPED THEM. Simon made it clear he would give their group a shot if she agreed to join it. THAT'S why they were desperately trying to convince her to accept. It wasn't kindness. It was selfishness. They needed her to accept for their whole group to go through. Otherwise Simon would have thrown the group out and not have given them a chair.

Makala Kay

I feel like they mostly did that for their benefit
