I am an army vet who recently exit the military/ fort hood. This case saddens me. You would think the army would have some common sense and do the right thing rather than protect their own. This starts all the way from the bottom of her squad, to all the way to brigade. Time and time again I see the army rather than severely punishing the soldiers, they give them a slap on the wrist. I knew a Sergeant first class that sexually harass a soldier. The military instead of doing the right thing, they force him into early retirement with full benefits. Another Sergeant I knew While we were deployed in Germany, attempt to rape his female solider and failed. All he got was a demotion and was later kicked out for other reasons. I love and respect the military and my brothers/ sisters in arms, but they cannot tolerate this. I’m glad the family brought in a outside attorney to put pressure on Fort hood or else this case would never progress. RIP Venessa Guillen.
