1) Two piece sister noise monster. Skamp started around the summer of 2010 in the heat of boredom and frustration of the lackluster music scene. Band members: Kaylee Lewis-vox, guitars, Jancee Lewis-drums, yells.
2) SKAMP are a perfect example of the quality music that is storming out of the new EU countries. Producer Viktoras Diawara aka Vee, singer / lyricist Erica Jennings & rapper Vilius Alesius (Willux) teamed up to bring us finely crafted, thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies.
A delicious cocktail blending well together, Vilius grew up in Lithuania; Erica studied singing and dance in her hometown of Dublin and Vee was raised in Mali by artistic parents. Though most of their lyrics are in English, the trio have released tracks mixing in French, German, Lithuanian, Russian & Bambara.
SKAMP burst onto the Lithuanian music scene in May 1998 with a hip-hop cover version of George Gershwin''s "Summertime" mixing the summer classic with french and lithuanian rap. The song shot straight to the top of the charts proving that their blend of cultural and musical styles worked. Much success, many hits, late-nights, tours and fans followed. Since then, the group have gone on to release 6 albums, (they' ve sold over 80,000 units) and they’ve set up their own record company (Tabami Records). SKAMP are today one of the most respected live bands in the Baltics having won a long list of music awards along the way. They have also supported acts such as: The Black Eyed Peas, Macy Gray, Reamonn, Robert Plant, Wheatus, The Bomfunk MCs and many more.
Since 2003 Skamp have started working with several established producers from the UK & the US (Oliver Leiber & Dave Gamson, Jez Coad, Stuart Brown, Jon Kingsley Hall and George Stewart). Thanks to those collaborations SKAMP’S fifth studio album “Reach”, made in London & Wales, is a solid pop rock creation. The album has some great hit tracks like “Split the atom (Na Na Na)” and “Calling after me”.
Their album “Deadly” has been recorded in Mali & Lithuania fulfilling an old dream to mix African musical elements with the typical SKAMP sound.
Many people say SKAMP are to be the next “big thing” to emerge from the new EU countries.
At 2008, recording new album "Kažką[/album", due out end '08. May 30th had a WICKED b'day bash gig and released new tracks "Kill U Wit My Mic" and "Sportas".
SKAMP have been nominated twice (2006, 2007) for "Best Baltic Act" at the MTV European Music Awards.
Illusions
SKAMP Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't let them use you
Do what you choose to
Don't let them abuse you
Don't have any illusions
Don't get used to
What people will say they'll do
Y’know they rarely come thru
Don’t let them decide for you
Don’t let them lie for you
Don’t let them try to buy you
The lyrics of SKAMP's song Illusions are a powerful message of individuality and self-empowerment. The refrain repeats "Don't have any illusions" four times, emphasizing the importance of not letting others dictate one's beliefs or actions. The song encourages listeners to do what they choose to do, without worrying about others' opinions or expectations. The line "Don't let them use you" suggests that others may try to take advantage of one's desire to please or be accepted, and it is important to be aware of this and not let it happen.
The next lines, "Don't let them abuse you / Don't get used to / What people will say they'll do / Y’know they rarely come thru," further drive home the message of not putting too much trust in others. People may promise things they don't intend to follow through on, or treat others poorly once they've gained their trust. It is important to avoid becoming too comfortable with this behavior and to hold others accountable for their promises.
