In AKB48's single "Oogoe Diamond" (大声ダイヤモンド), Matsui Jurina (松井珠理奈) became the first and only member of SKE48 to be featured on a single cover and in the song itself. Since then, Matsui Jurina, Matsui Rena (松井玲奈) as well as other SKE48 members have taken part in AKB48 singles as well as releasing their own singles under the SKE48 name. SKE48 also takes part in the yearly AKB48 Senbatsu Elections and Request Hour concerts. As of December 2010, SKE48 has three full-fledged teams (Team S, Team KII, Team E) as well as their own Kenkyuusei team performing at the Sunshine Sakae theatre.

珠理奈卒業発表で来ました。
これで強き者よの選抜メンバー、そしてSKEの1期生が全員卒業します。
珠理奈のことだから、ずっといると思ってました。体調不良で休んでもSKEが好きだから、まだ頑張ると思ってました。今回の発表で驚きはもちろん、何より12年間お疲れ様でしたという感情が強いです。
大声ダイヤモンドの選抜から、いろんな人に批判され続け、総選挙での件もありましたが、珠理奈の「SKEが好き。SKEを一番のアイドルグループにする。」という思いに嘘はないと思います。
歌詞にある「最後の勇者」とは珠理奈のことでしたね。

I really like how this, their debut song, really reflects their group's personality. Among all the 48 groups, SKE has been said to be the most "aggressive" when it comes to power and effort shown. Since their debut, unlike the other sister groups, they made it their goal to surpass AKB. SKE is more ambitious and wants to be more than just AKB's sister group. Despite their hardships and some less-than-fair treatment, they're still strongly fighting for it and that's what makes us SKE fans seems "more passionate" and has no chill just like SKE itself.
To other groups' fans we may seem intimidating and crazy, but I think we have so much pride and passion for the group. And that's what's fun about being their fan. I'm so glad this is their debut song. It still stays relevant throughout the group's growth.

Good description of what makes ske unique from other 48Family groups. I do agree -- they definitely have an unbeatable energy level with some of the most kinetic choreography I've ever seen (Rena Matsui, herself, described ske as being the most "acrobatic" among 48G's.) Puzzled, though, by what you mean regarding being "treated unfairly." Treated unfairly by whom? Upper management? Other 48G's? The fans? It doesn't appear to me that they're underdogs in any way. But then again, I don't really follow idol news at all.

gotwa229 If you compare between all the sister groups, yeahh SKE has been pretty much unlucky in some ways. They do usually get the shorter end of the stick most of the time from the management. Like in terms of promotions and media exposure. That's why if you get deeper into fandom, you'll notice some hardcore SKE "purists" around being all salty and bitter (i admit, im one of those people some times haha). If i may, I suggest you watch their documentary and there are some good articles written by fans out there. i'll link you, if interested. :)

SKE went down the drain the moment Rena Matsui graduated. Things only got worse when their #3 girl, Kuumin, graduated as well.

I agree with you. I also noticed the same. No new member can succeed Rena as her ancestor. Jurina also can't fill the space Rena left behind. No offense though. I like SKE.
