Dirt
SMP Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Apocalyptic blurring visions of life
The sinking towers in the middle of the night
The armies charge and the cannons fire
It forever attacks us, crushing hand like a plier
Faceless, a dream that never goes away
The wall's a prison, but the structure's in decay
Try to stand, but the current's pulling down
The boot of progress as it stamps you to the ground

Face the past
Standing 'til the last
The reasons never work
And hit them where it hurts
Right now, we bleed
Crushed into the dirt

You're slapped in the face, but you can't understand
The power here is the hand of man
Survival is fleeting, now your head's in a cage
The words had a meaning, but they're burning the page
You can't recall what the world was like
When the image is fading, dirt will cover the site

A sentinel will do the work
The camera's watching as we're crushed into the dirt

Overall Meaning

The song Dirt by SMP is a powerful and intense song that deals with themes of apocalyptic visions, societal decay, oppression, and the struggle for survival. The opening lines of the song create a vivid image of a world falling apart, with sinking towers and armies charging while cannons fire. The music also adds to the overall feeling of chaos and destruction, with a heavy beat and distorted vocals.

The lyrics also touch on the idea of facelessness and the sense of being trapped. The line "faceless, a dream that never goes away" suggests a loss of identity or individuality, while the description of the wall as a prison highlights the sense of being trapped in a decaying society. The chorus, with its repetition of "Crushed into the dirt," emphasizes the feeling of being overwhelmed and powerless in the face of a larger force.

The song touches on themes that are relevant to our current society, such as the struggles of the marginalized and the crushing impact of the powers that be. While the lyrics paint a bleak picture, there is a sense of defiance and the call to fight back against oppression. The line "hit them where it hurts" suggests the need for strategic resistance rather than simply succumbing to oppression.

Just something about this era of riding will always be where it was at its best. well for me that is. I never got into the whole fmx but I know this was the whole progression up to it. No man made ramps nothing to crazy. Just out for a good time. Lbz was my brand of choice and my 1994 cr125. Ah the memories
