How far will a falling star take me
How far can I go can I go
Gotta be what the nightmare made me
Gotta be gotta be what I see
Jump clear of the falling parts from me
How far will they go will they go
Can't give what you need from me baby
Bringing me down break me down sweet sugar
Bringing me down break me down
Breaking me down to the ground sweet baby
Breaking me down to the ground
Too much is made of what's in me
Not enough about how I strive
Keep an eye on your world it's cheating
Keep an eye keep an eye on me
Deep inside there's a little place for me
A little place for me
Can't give what you want from me baby
Just leave it be
Sweet razor wound
Deep down slice my groove
Sweet razor wound
Deep down c'mon and slice it
How far did the falling star take me
How far did it go did it go
Had to be what the nightmare made me
Fuck, just had to be
Jump clear of the falling parts form me
How far did they go did they go
Can't give what you want from me baby
Hell, just let it go
The lyrics to SOiL's song "Breaking Me Down" seem to be about a person trying to break free from the negative influences and circumstances that have shaped them. The opening lines mention a falling star and the singer wondering how far it will take them, indicating a sense of longing for escape. The mention of nightmares and the need to be what they see suggests that the singer may feel trapped and defined by their past experiences.
The chorus, with its refrain of "Bringing me down, break me down" and "Breaking me down to the ground," reinforces the idea that the singer is struggling against outside forces that are trying to hold them back. The mention of a "sweet razor wound" and a desire to be "sliced" can be interpreted as a desire for pain as a way to break free from the numbness or monotony of their current situation.
The bridge of the song touches on the idea that the singer's strengths and efforts are being overlooked, with too much focus on their flaws and past mistakes. Despite this, the singer urges the listener to "keep an eye on me" and acknowledges that there is a small part of themselves that they can hold onto.
Overall, the lyrics to "Breaking Me Down" paint a picture of a person trying to fight against the negative forces in their life and to break free from their past while still struggling with feelings of inadequacy and a sense of being defined by their experiences.
