Hurry Up!
SUPERFRUIT Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

One foot in, one foot out
One moment away from shutting down
I'm too complete to need something
From someone who's not on my frequency

So if you got what it takes
Then baby don't hesitate
Hey, just blow me away
I'm waiting
Don't need no false promises
Someone who knows who he is
Someone who's ready for this cause it's waiting

All these other boys
They're just not enough
So talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Hey baby, I've never been in love
But I wanna be, I wanna be, so hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up

It's four AM, I'm drunk again
About to leave with someone I just met
He's insecure, immature
All these in betweens are too much work

So if you got what it takes
Then baby don't hesitate
Hey, just blow me away
I'm waiting
Don't need no false promises
Someone who knows who he is
Someone who's ready for this cause it's waiting

All these other boys
They're just not enough
So talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Hey baby, I've never been in love
But I wanna be, I wanna be, so hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up

All these other boys
They're just not enough
So talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Hey baby, I've never been in love
But I wanna be, I wanna be, so hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Yeah, woah
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Hey baby

Talk to me, come to me, hurry up
Talk to me, come to me, hurry up

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Superfruit's "Hurry Up!" describe the feelings of someone who is tired of meaningless flings and wants to find someone who is on the same wavelength as them. The singer has one foot in and one foot out, teetering on the brink of shutting down emotionally. They are, however, too complete in themselves to need someone who isn't on their frequency. They only want someone who is genuine and someone they can trust. As a result, they urge whoever is interested in them to not hesitate and hurry up and talk to them.

The chorus repeats itself, emphasizing the singer’s urgency to find someone real. They are tired of all the other boys they’ve met until now, but they’ve never been in love before and want to experience it. They implore the person in question to come to them sooner rather than later. In the second verse, the singer elaborates on their dissatisfaction with the people who come their way when they're inebriated. These people are insecure and immature, and the hookups involve a lot of work that the singer isn’t interested in.

The song conveys a sense of urgency and a desire to connect with someone who is genuine and real. The singer is looking for something honest and long-lasting, rather than just another temporary fling. It captures the idea of someone who is unapologetically themselves and wants to find someone who can appreciate them in that raw state.

I like how natural the inclusion is here unlike other artists who NEED to make sure we know they’re inclusive of other races, sexualities, or sizes.

@jordandemaret4452

MemesAreFriendsNotFood exactly what I was thinking. Like other music videos, or videos in general, it’s so noticeable that they are trying so hard to be diverse. Like there’s no white people just people of other races. Or two blacks two Hispanics and two whites. But here it’s just so natural.
