My brother and cousin were both shot and killed in front of my house 4/23/17(2 months ago), both at the age of 23. They were both rap artists who listened to TDE's music, loved Kendrick Lamar's recent DAMN album, and anticipated SZA's long awaited album with me. I'm 21 going on 22, and this song and album connects with me on such a personal level that I didn't think it would. We were/are dreamers aspiring to make something of ourselves (I'm an actor/singer/college student), and all of us strive to carve a niche for ourselves to sustain in a society in which we walk into with debt from college. It's stressful, but there is so much beauty in the age of us 20 something's. No matter what the older naysayers may say to dissuade you from your career choices and aspirations, know that you have time to grow and develop into who you want to be and what you aspire to do. I was 20 years old when this album came out, I remember listening to it one summer with my best friend in the car on our way back from the beach. This song came on and we both started crying, and it had us talking about our shared moments and how excited we were for our last year before our college graduation. After graduating, we moved away to separate cities to pursue our careers. I'm 23 now and I still think about those seemingly endless summer nights where my friends and I would sneak onto rooftops, getting into trouble, and just enjoying each other's company for hours without a care for the world. I graduated from high school at 17, and I should have been in college at that age, but life was too cruel. There was so much pain at my 18 and 19. @Lana delly man, I'm sorry to hear that. Don't lose hope! Life is a strange thing. Focus on the things and people you love, forgive anybody and everybody for everything that crosses you in life. You were not made to carry anger and hate. Love God with all your heart. Your life is not for you to figure out, it's for you to love God, grow, help others and flourish. Enjoy it regardless of circumstance. Songs like this are pretty sounding and relatable, but don't let them cause you to feel hopeless. Don't get stuck in this feeling. Eventually the lyrics to this song won't relate to you and you can listen to it in appreciation of how you've grown and you can help others along their way. Notice that the young artists are usually the ones with these kinds of songs. Forgive everyone in your life, love God, do what's good and grow. Oh, and don't do drugs. Your mind is beautiful, don't cloud it.

As a 31 year old, who feels like I have nothing to show for myself at this age. And as if everyone else has ALREADY gone through the “20 somethings” stage. They all have the accomplishments. The house, family, finished school, have their own lives. I’ve had to deal with so much fucking trauma in my life…and I’ve never caught up. Now here I am. I Discovered this song I had just turned 21 going through one of the hardest time of my life, living situation wasn’t right, losing friends, boyfriend at the time was cheating on me while I was grieving the loss of my 15 yr old niece. The pressure you feel when you’re at 20. Throughout high school we try to figure out what we’re gonna do after graduation and many of us have been struggling with this huge weight on our shoulders since then. We even watched people come in and out of our lives. We have witnessed the fake people and learned to see who’s real and who gets to stay in our lives. We learned that the real world is nothing like high school and we had to adapt to it. Nothing prepared us enough for this. Wish the world wasn’t built the way it was… But we’re gonna be alright 20 something people. As long as we got each other. You’re not alone 🫶🏽

What a breathe of fresh air ! Felt every word you said . 20 is the age of experience with trial and error . You laugh , cry , live , and learn . Experience heart break , broke , and loose your high school best friends ! Graduate college move back in with your parents and go to sleep wondering who you will marry ! So many thoughts . Both for good and bad ! But no matter how hard we fall we make the best of it . 😂At the end of the day I’m only 24 and I’ve learned so much but here’s to the rest of my 20 somethings. I’m 29 and getting out of my 20s soon. I lost my dad to cancer at the age of 25 and my girlfriend broke up with me. I was with her from 23-29. Lost a bunch of my friends for being in a relationship. My 20s taught me a lot. It made me the person I am and learned to be patient. Wish I did more but I know Ima grow more in my 30s
