Like a moth to your flame
Put your jinx in a deadly kiss
Your body locked me down in chains
Didn't read the danger signs
Til you crept into my mind
Made me believe you were so in love
Fell down to earth now baby
I had my wake up call
You're not a high I can't get off
Too little to Late Girl
Didn't know what you had till it's gone (Don't Tell me your sorry now)
Too little to Late Girl
Can't get back what's already lost
Now Your Alone
I still see your reflection in
A corner of my head
You're the tainted mirror Image
That my heart has to reject
So I've gotta keep my distance
When you tell me you can change
You can't burn me with
The heat of your love
'cause I've put it in the shade
Nothing you can do can phase me
Since I got my wake up call
You can't do your damage like before
Too little to Late Girl
Didn't know what you had till it's gone (Don't Tell me your sorry now)
Too little to Late Girl
Can't get back what's already lost
Now Your Alone
Can't turn back the clock
Can't make momentum stop
And every time I look at you and hesitate
I get a trigger in my mind
That makes me rewind
And remember how you blew my heart away
Too little to Late Girl
Didn't know what you had till it's gone, So gone
Too little to Late Girl
Can't get back what's already lost
Too little to Late Girl
Didn't know what you had till it's gone (Don't Tell me your sorry now)
Too little to Late Girl
Can't get back what's already lost
Now Your Alone
Too little to Late Girl
Didn't know what you had till it's gone (Don't Tell me your sorry now)
Too little to Late Girl
Can't get back what's already lost
Now Your Alone
S Club 8's "The Day You Came" is a song about a person who had been led astray by their love interest. The song begins with the singer admitting that the love interest had drawn them in, and they fell for them like a moth to a flame. However, soon after, the singer realized that this love interest was dangerous and had locked them down in chains. Despite this, the love interest made the singer believe they were in love, and they found themselves mesmerized.
The pre-chorus alludes to the singer waking up and realizing the gravity of the situation. They fell to earth and had their wake-up call. The chorus talks about how it is too late for apologies, and the love interest cannot change the fact that they lost the singer. The second verse mentions the singer's struggle to move on from the love interest. However, they realize that staying away from this person is the best thing for them, and they will not be phased by their antics anymore.
Overall, the song's overarching theme is about realizing when you are entering an unhealthy relationship and waking up from the trance that love can sometimes put us in.
