The band also contributed the Black Sabbath cover "Sweet Leaf" to the Hempilation: Freedom Is NORML compilation album to benefit NORML, and the Subhumans cover "The Big Picture" appears as the B-side of the "Open Book" promotional single. A three disk boxed set with remastered versions of Ignorance and Surf Nicaragua with additional bonus material, including the "Draining You of Life" demo tape and a live DVD, was released in Europe only in the summer of 2007 by Metal Blade Records. In the spring of 2017, the band announced their first North American tour in 21 years.
In January 2018, Sacred Reich signed to Metal Blade Records and began working on their fifth studio album, Awakening, which was released on August 23, 2019. It is the band's first full-length studio album since 1996's Heal, and their first since drummer Dave McClain and guitarist Joey Radziwill replaced founding members Greg Hall and Jason Rainey respectively.

Don't know what's the problem seems like pulling teeth never had this
Happen I must overcome
Pressure pressure pressure in my head pressure pressure pressure in my
Head
Tap into the bank of knowledge reaching for the source look around in my
Mind for some meaning don't know what I might find hope I find it soon
Taking just too much time sitting in this room
Head
Don't like what I'm seeing lack of drive and thought don't know how to fix
It time to start days of deep reflection nights of sweat and work have to
Beat this this is my reward
Look around in my mind hope to find any ideas I like and can write have to
Have some meaning not just some words put some music to it get to work
Pressure pressure pressure in my head pressure pressure pressure in my

The lyrics of Sacred Reich's song "Pressure" are a reflection on the creative process, particularly when it feels like the inspiration isn't flowing the way it should be. The first verse acknowledges the potential and ideas that are present but not yet fully formed, and the frustration of trying to coax them out. There's a sense of desperation and urgency in needing to overcome this blockage, represented by the repeated use of the word "pressure" in the chorus. The second verse takes a more introspective approach, with the singer searching for answers and meaning within themselves, hoping to find a way to unlock their creativity. As they struggle to come up with something meaningful, they realize that it's going to take hard work and dedication to get there.
Overall, the song represents the struggles of the creative process and the pressure that artists face to produce work that meets their own standards. It's a relatable theme for anyone who has ever faced a creative block, feeling like they're trapped in their own head and unable to translate their ideas into reality.
