Most of the bands influences can be traced back to the early nineties, when they all were teenagers. This period has made it’s mark on the band. The guitars are once again allowed to roam free and shine. SDFP want their music to express feelings of warmth, honesty and melancholy; decadence and drugs yields precedence to tea and trivial pursuit.
The music is all about shimmering layers of guitars, intertwined feedback melodies all dreamy and grand and sad, and ethereal harmony vocals.
The first EP from Sad Day For Puppets, Just Like a Ghost EP, is the first release from HaHa Fonogram since Radio LXMBRG, and SDFP has already generated interest from Japan as well as France.
Debut album 'Unknown Colors' is out now on HaHa Fonogram in Europe and on Sonic Cathedral in the UK.

Sad Day For Puppets Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The thousand changing stars
I'm lying next to her
Just like in a dream
All a memory
It's all so unreal
And so I did
And how we slipped away
From everything
And my own colours flashed
Before my eyes
Oh so warm and dry
Words all seem so strange
And meaning disappears
Like tiny vapour trails
And grandma just collides
With all I want to say
So I don't even try
She said close your eyes
And so I did
And how we slipped away
From everything
And my own colours flashed
Before my eyes
Oh so warm and dry
The opening lines of Sad Day For Puppets' song "Blue Skies" convey a sense of escape and detachment from reality. The blue sky in the room represents a dream-like state, disconnected from the world outside. The singer is lying next to someone, but the lines "All a memory / It's all so unreal" suggest that this is a memory or a fantasy rather than a present experience. The image of the "thousand changing stars" adds to the otherworldly atmosphere.
The second verse continues to explore the theme of the surreal or intangible. The singer describes how words lose their meaning like "tiny vapour trails." This could be interpreted as a commentary on the difficulty of communication and the limitations of language. The image of the grandmother who "collides with all I want to say" could represent a generational or cultural gap, implying that some things cannot be fully communicated or understood.
The chorus repeats the idea of slipping away from reality, with the singer following the other person's suggestion to "close your eyes." The "own colours" that flash before the singer's eyes could represent creative or imaginative inspiration, or perhaps memories and emotions.
Overall, the lyrics of "Blue Skies" create a sense of otherworldliness and detachment from reality, exploring themes of memory, communication, and imagination.
