Slow Motion
Saga Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Think, when was the last time
You, stumbled on rest time
Go, try to relax now
Or, did you forget how

Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how
Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how

You've been very busy
Now, you feel awfully dizzy
Why, is it so vital
You, insure your survival

Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how
Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how

Stop, remember the way back
Now, now you can lay back
They'll get by without you
For, they're not about to

Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how
Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how

Slow motion
Let everybody else run around
Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how
Slow motion
Let everybody else run around

Slow motion
Maybe you have forgotten how

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Saga's "Slow Motion" seem to be a cautionary tale about the importance of taking a step back and going at a slower pace, especially when we're feeling overwhelmed by the hectic nature of our lives. The song encourages us to reevaluate how much we're putting on our shoulders and to take a moment to let the world around us keep moving without getting caught up in the chaos.

From the opening line "think, when was the last time," the song asks us to reflect on the last time we took a break and assess whether or not we're in need of some time off. The lyrics suggest that we may have forgotten how to relax and are constantly stuck in a state of "stumbling" or feeling "awfully dizzy." Instead, we should remember to take things down a notch and live in "slow motion."

The song also touches on the fear of missing out, acknowledging that it can be difficult to step away from everything when we feel like we're the only ones capable of handling certain responsibilities. However, ultimately, the lyrics encourage us to prioritize our own well-being and let others take care of themselves for once.

Overall, "Slow Motion" is a reminder that sometimes, slowing down is the best way to keep moving forward.

Absolutely excellent song. No band was like Saga and no band will ever be like Saga! I have 21 different albums and still can't get enough of them.

A great song indeed...I fell in love with this band in high school in 1979. Just saw them live in Toronto this past February. Lead guitarist Ian Crichton is an under-rated guitar god. Europe and especially Germany had it right by filling 100,000 plus venues to cheer them on.

Memories of my life..... ❤️

@Retroscoop

Superb album, fantastic cover art, one of those albums I still treasure after so many years, when I was the only Saga fan in high school that only spoke about U 2 and Simple Minds. But I looooved being that black sheep stepping into a complete other direction than the flock. It showed I had character and even better, good taste :0)

I love mopping. It's like dancing backward. It's like spring board diving off of a cat walk.
