Halos For Everyone
Saidian Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We don't need no Messiah
Don't care about our sins
'Cause wasting time on goodness hurts like needles and pins
Don't struggle for a savior
Solution lies on top
Just buy your own salvation at my shop

Come on my dear old friends
The future's in my hands
And for a dole I will share with you
'Cause another devastation
Social ice age's on the run
Mankind's on the threshold to the end
It's the final desperation
And the end is yet to come
The egg falls down and never breaks again

So open up your eyes
And open up your ears
The ultimate solution's breaking free
Dry your whining eyes
It's not worth wasting tears
The last salvation you will find in me!

(I'm) selling halos for everyone
Substitution for Messiah who's on holiday right now
Selling halos for everyone
It's your afterlife insurance – absolution on seasonal sale

I'm the valiant lying liar
I'm the merchant of the fools
Your possessions I will sell to you
And to rig the price
I'll provide your Paradise
Believe in me – I'm the hypochrist

So open up your eyes
And open up your ears
The ultimate solution's breaking free
Dry your whining eyes
It's not worth wasting tears
The last salvation you will find in me!

(I'm) selling halos for everyone
Substitution for Messiah who's on holiday right now
Selling halos for everyone
It's your afterlife insurance – absolution on seasonal sale

So, who is your Messiah
Who cares about your sins
Bring me gold and maiden and salvation begins
I am your real savior
Come closer to my shop
Take a look my dear I'm selling

Halos for everyone
Substitution for Messiah who's on holiday right now
Selling halos for everyone
It's your afterlife insurance – absolution is cheap

Selling halos for everyone
Substitution for Messiah who's on holiday right now
Selling halos for everyone
It's your afterlife insurance – absolution on seasonal sale

Now be quick we're sold out!

Selling halos for everyone
Substitution for Messiah who's on holiday right now
Selling halos for everyone
It's your afterlife insurance – absolution on seasonal sale

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Saidian's song Halos For Everyone are a condemnation of organized religion and its false prophets. The singer takes on the voice of a shameless and unscrupulous merchant who offers salvation for sale, belittling the idea of searching for goodness and the struggle to find a savior. Instead, the singer offers a quick and easy solution to buying one's own salvation at his shop, offering halos as a substitution for a Messiah who is on holiday right now.

The chorus repeats the phrase "selling halos for everyone" and acts as a skeptical and dissenting voice against the idea of an organized religious belief system, showcasing how the merchant is trying to make a profit off the fear of mortality and the end of the world. The lyrics emphasize the manipulation of religious figures, pointing out how the merchant will "provide your Paradise" and "rig the price" to the buyer's emotions.

Overall, the song is a critique of the false prophets that exist within religion, and how individuals can be led astray by the promise of salvation through purchasing physical items such as halos. It demonstrates how some people may be more interested in belittling and mocking religious beliefs, while others may have more genuine concerns about religious leaders and the power they hold over their followers.

I love fun satirical metal. Plays into my beliefs and philosophies, and it's just darn playful. Awesome track. ^^

Hence, it's a spurious, misinterpretation coming from the wicked that i spoke earlier, As if virtues, morals, values and consciousness which are meant to be essential aspects are simply placed as "irrelevant", and that "finances" are supposedly enough, those are the so-called "false prophets" that even the gospels mentioned about. Yet I still see nothing philosophical about it, given the philosophical, is about discussing ideas at it's core and essence, not the individual or collective errors and misinterpretations people and "leaders" are having. I personally also see 'salvation' and 'God' on different ways as well. For me, 'Salvation' comes from the idea that God resembles the plenitude and essence of human life, in which, concepts such as "feelings", "thoughts" and "emotions" are really solid and metaphysical concepts rather than those being just nothing but subjective illusions created in our brains, result of nothing but chemical reactions.
Also, the human mind and consciousness were designed with a capacity that materialistic life alone would not sustain, since it reduces all that splendor to mere decades of existence.

As for God, i view it as a universal, philosophical, anthropological and metaphysical concept, while religions are only the result of different interpretations and approaches of such scope, given we humans are naturally multiform towards the metaphysical, hence there's no such a thing as "right" or "wrong" religion, only different interpretations, the virtuous are the ones who deserve praise. And talking about Virtuous, take Christianity for instance, there are concepts such as Ecumenism (which promotes coexistence among various beliefs) and taking a look at history, the christian ideal contributed quite noticeably to western philosophy (take philosophers and thinkers such as Origen, Thomas Aquinas and Augustine of Hippo), influenced virtuous people, such as William Wilberforce (a British politician and philanthropist, influenced by the christian ideal to be the leader of an abolitionist movement) and even science (take Kepler for instance, he set out to investigate the external world, considering valid the idea that if the same was ordained rationally by a creator, therefore it would had rules, rules to be discovered). At least right now, this is more of a philosophical discussion to me.

I haven't listened to the remainder of the album just yet, so I can't comment on that side of it.
As to the song's philosophy, I interpret it as a satire on modern organized religion. Despite being representative of higher powers of benevolence and divine grace, it's still heavily implied that unless you donate your finances to the cause, you're not a true believer.
This brings in the idea of a divinity without 'salvation', that there is no reward or punishment beyond our waking lives. The most we feel we can do is buy our way into good graces and make ourselves feel like saints. No true charity, compassion, or empathy required. Just throw some money at the problems and it's good enough.
This speaks to me because I don't believe in 'salvation', nor the standard idea of 'God'. I believe people are fundamentally good, but morality should be practiced for its own sake, not for our benefit. This song satirizes the opposing view: that people are inherently greedy and selfish and only want an easy way out of obligation, responsibility, and strife in general.
And it does so from the perspective of a shopkeeper who, to me, is saying, "They'll actually buy this junk!"

Hugo Freitas

Do you really think this song promotes any philosophical or belief issue? for me, it only satirizes the unfortunate degeneracy among the wicked who are infiltrated on some religious segments, but that's nothing to contribute with the field of philosophical discussion, and personally, i think this song almost ruins the album as a whole, given it doesn't fit the atmosphere and concept of the previous songs...
