The original line-up consisted of Dave Chandler (guitar), Mark Adams (bass), Armando Acosta (drums) and Scott Reagers (vocals). They recorded their first two albums before Scott Weinrich replaced Reagers in 1986. The line-up of Chandler, Adams, Acosta and Weinrich is the longest-lasting. The third album Born Too Late (1986) is generally acknowledged as their best release.[3]
After breaking up in 1996 and briefly reforming in 2003, Saint Vitus reunited again in 2008 with the band's "classic" line-up, featuring Weinrich, Chandler, Adams and Acosta, and embarked on a successful tour. However, after 30 years in the band, Acosta left Saint Vitus in 2009 due to worsening health, and was replaced by Henry Vasquez. By 2016, both Weinrich and Adams had left Saint Vitus and were replaced by Reagers and Patrick Bruders respectively, leaving Chandler as the only constant member of the band and reuniting two-fourths of the original lineup.
White Magic/Black Magic
Saint Vitus Lyrics

I don't believe in sin
I believe in wizardry
I don't believe in trends
White magic / Black magic
Which am I to choose?
I believe that is up to me
I don't believe in you
I don't believe in lies
I believe in innocence
I don't believe your eyes
White magic / Black magic
What am I to do?
Charmes and curses screaming from
Me each one aimed at you
I believe in second chances
I don't believe in firsts
I believe that it's getting harder
I don't believe in worse
White magic / Black magic
Both become my tools
Pressure rising, perish now
You optimistic fool
The lyrics of Saint Vitus's song "White Magic/Black Magic" are about the power of belief, personal choice, and the struggle between good and evil. The singer of the song seems to have a strong belief in magic, miracles, and fairy tales, but rejects the concept of sin and trends. The chorus "White magic/Black magic, which am I to choose?" reflects a conflict between different types of magic and their moral implications. The singer believes that the choice is up to them and rejects any external authority.
The next lines suggest that the singer is not naive or gullible, as they don't believe in lies or the appearances. The contrast between the innocence they believe in and the eyes of others implies a form of disillusionment or alienation. The last verse adds another layer to the theme of choice and belief, as the singer believes in second chances but not in firsts. This could refer to the difficulty of making meaningful changes or the tendency to repeat mistakes.
