He's An Indian Cowboy In The Rodeo
Sainte marie buffy Lyrics

Sun is up
Day is on
Look for me
I'll be gone
cause today's the day
I'm gonna see him again

He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo
and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so
He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo
and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so

Once he stopped
and talked to me
I found out
how dreams can be
with a big wide smile
and a big white hat

He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo
and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so
He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo
and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so

Sun is up
Day is on
Look for me
I'll be gone
cause today's the day
I'm gonna see him again

He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo
and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so
He's an Indian cowboy in the rodeo

and I'm just another little girl
who loves him so

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sainte Marie Buffy's song "He's An Indian Cowboy In The Rodeo" are a simple yet poignant portrayal of unrequited love. The singer is just another little girl who loves the man who is an Indian cowboy in the rodeo. The language used in the song is simple and straightforward, which makes it easy to understand and empathize with the singer's emotions.

The song is structured in a very simple manner, with the repetition of the verse "Sun is up, day is on, look for me, I'll be gone, cause today's the day I'm gonna see him again" acting as a metaphor for the singer's life. She is constantly waiting and hoping to see him again, but knows deep down that he is out of reach. The lyrics also contain a beautiful description of how dreams can feel, with the singer remembering how she once stopped and talked to him, a moment that gave her hope and made her understand what optimism and joy can feel like.

In essence, the song is a beautiful portrayal of young, unrequited love. It speaks to the experiences of many people who have felt the sting of rejection or longed for someone they can't have. It's a reminder that even though love can be painful, it's also beautiful and worth pursuing.

On this day in 1972 {June 3rd} Buffy Sainte-Marie performed "Mister Can't You See" and "He's An Indian Cowboy in the Rodeo" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Two months earlier on April 1st, 1972 "Mister Can't You See" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #38 and spent 8 weeks in the Top 100... Reached #21 in Canada,,, And two months later on August 19th "He's An Indian Cowboy in the Rodeo" entered the Top 100 for 2 weeks and reach #98... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...

A CLASSIC!!!!

I like this version better than the original from 1972. I used to own that one on 45. I can imagine the recording studios in those days probably wouldn't let Buffy put the indigenous sounding parts in the original song because they wanted to make the song more pop music acceptable for white radio station owners. Glad those days are over where they don't have such a stranglehold anymore over what people listen to.
