Salad's first album, Drink Me hit the streets in 1995 and peaked at number 17 in the album charts, no doubt thanks to the bands relentless touring around the UK and Europe.
The band split in 1997 after disappointing sales of their second album, Ice Cream. Marijne van der Vlugt is currently in a band named Cowboy Racer, Charley Stone is in Spy51, and Rob Wakeman & Pete Brown are involved with BoreMe.com.
[2] Salad is also a Canadian producer/DJ based out of Ottawa, known for jazz- and disco-influenced house music.
Yeah Yeah

It's snowing now, the air is growing cold
I rubbed the dirt and stared in through the windowpane
I almost lost my mind - ooh yeah
They take you home and show you the street
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Got a lot of places where your friends all meet
And I don't care if you got long air
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Your mum's all right when she's out of the fight
She says you is mine but I don't know that's right
Go into the public house and drink them blind
Get kicked out and wake up in the road
When I peered inside with my binoculars
I almost lost my mind - ooh yeah
They take you home and show you the street
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Got a lot of places where your friends all meet
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
And I don't care if you got long air
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Your mum's all right when she's out of the fight
She says you is mine but I don't know that's right
They take you home and show you the street
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Got a lot of places where your friends all meet
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
And I don't care if you got long air
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Your mum's all right when she's out of the fight
She says you is mine but I don't know that's right
The lyrics of Salad's song "Yeah Yeah" convey a tale of aimless wandering and self-discovery. The singer steps out of their house on a cold winter day and ventures into town. As the snow falls, the singer peeks through a window and becomes lost in thought. The lyrics reveal a sense of detachment, as the singer observes their surroundings without engaging fully in them. As the song progresses, the singer drinks heavily and spends the night on the road. The lyrics suggest that the singer is in a state of flux, searching for meaning and stability.
Through the repetition of the phrase "yeah yeah," the lyrics convey a sense of apathy and resignation. The singer seems to be going through the motions of life without feeling a sense of purpose or direction. The lyrics also suggest a conflict between the singer and their mother, who claims ownership over them. This tension contributes to the sense of estrangement and detachment conveyed in the song.
Overall, Salad's song "Yeah Yeah" conveys a sense of aimlessness and detachment. The lyrics suggest a search for identity and purpose, while also conveying the singer's apathy and sense of resignation.
