In 2014 she released singles “Somebody” and “If You Let Me Go”, which reached the Top 5 on both Billboard and the Music Week Dance Charts, as well as winning MTVU Freshmen & MTV IGGY’s Artist of the Week for “If You Let Me Go”. In 2015, she continued to build her unique blend of dark synth-pop with her single Raided, a Spotify fan favorite which also had support from BBC Introducing and was playlisted on BBC Radio 1Xtra. The singer also contributed her writing and vocal talents on label-mate Kristian Nairn’s single entitled “4Love”, and rising producer CRUELS’ single “Give It Up”, both of which received massive support worldwide.
The songstress released her self-titled debut album, produced by Daniel Fridholm (AKA Cruelty) and Rob Irving (House of Emeralds), mid-July. The album quickly gained popularity with music fans worldwide and the lead single “Save It” peaked at #22 on Billboard Magazine’s Dance Club Chart, along with Music Week’s Club Charts and various other charts.
Salt Ashes has also performed across various venues in the UK and opened for artists such as Say Lou Lou, Tove Styrke, Bright Light Bright Light, Femme, Nimmo & Little Boots.
Somebody
Salt Ashes Lyrics

Somebody somebody somebody somebody
Somebody take me away
Somebody somebody
Somebody keep me away
Somebody somebody
Scream inside
You got my senses high
Is she with you
Into me like bullets through a screen
My heart is no machine
And now it's through me down
You pushed the arrow in
Just as I'm over the burner
Hiding under a dim
Somebody take me away
From the love anxiety society
Somebody keep me away
From the love anxiety society
Virgin stare
Like it's broken air
Light a cigarette
Is she with you
Losing me
The girl I used to be
So its a threat to see
Before you drag me down
You push the arrow in
Just as I'm over the burner
Hiding under a dim
Somebody take me away
From the love anxiety society
Somebody keep me away
From the love anxiety society
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody
Somebody take me away
From the love anxiety society
Somebody keep me away
From the love anxiety society
Take me ta-ta-take me away
Take me ta-ta-take me away
Take me ta-ta-take me away
Take me ta-ta-take me away
In Salt Ashes' "Somebody," the singer expresses a desire to escape from the pressures and anxieties of society's expectations for love and relationships. The repeated plea for "somebody" to take or keep her away indicates an overwhelming feeling of helplessness or desperation. This is underscored by the imagery of being "over the burner," a metaphor for being pushed to one's limits and in danger of breaking down. The line about the girl she used to be also suggests that the pressures of this anxiety society have changed her in some way or perhaps even destroyed a part of her.
The lyrics also hint at a romantic relationship and the uncertainty and jealousy that can come with it, as the singer wonders if the person she's interested in is involved with someone else. The line "into me like bullets through a screen" suggests that this person has an intense effect on her even from a distance, while the "virgin stare" and "broken air" imagery convey a sense of awkwardness or disappointment.
Overall, "Somebody" is a deeply personal and emotionally charged song that speaks to the universal experiences of anxiety and longing for connection.
