I’ve been DJing for over 20 years now. Seen how trance and progressive have changed and evolved (and not in a great way) over the past couple decades....nothing, and I mean NOTHING will ever compare to this era. Yeah, some people will say it’s just nostalgia, and that I was younger and more impressionable and therefore this music would leave its lasting imprint on my soul...while that’s partly true and I can’t argue that - I still stand by what I say. This time was special. The club nights were magical. The music itself had so much god damned personality - unlike today’s monotone, boring, predictable techno. I feel sad for people that missed out on this era. Not because I think I’m special for having experienced it, but because I wish I could share with them what it was like to hear and experience all this music as it was new and innovative. 22 years later and this track still hits me right in the feels. Man I miss the good ol days 😀

So true, absolutely agree with you. Theres still some good techno around, but its all lost behind all the big-room shit thats being labelled 'techno and rave'....there was, exactly as you say, so much personality in the music back then. Like you, Ive often wondered if its just nostalgia, but then I listen back through my collections and its not nostalgia, its just really great music. My kids dont understand, and I cant really expect them too either. I miss the times back then, for the exact reasons you state too. Stuff like this and Humate's Love Stimulation still give me huge smiles (and occasionally tears!). 🙂

Tune, it's a shame this era of music is no longer produced. The ideas have dried up along with the euphoria of music. boring minimal music with no sense of direction. this type of music is uplifting and gives you a BUZZ...

Theres no club scene any more. It used to be people would make music and go and play it at clubs, release small batches of records and we would go and buy them it was all part of a vibe. Sad that its gone. Things now have to be "safe", safety=death. Saying that anyone could open a club now and make it like the old days, maybe we just dont have the balls anymore.

Ryan McLaren You are so right there... although check out some of Fanatic Emotions tunes like "A Dream Of You" they are really uplifting trance :-)
