Excuse Me
Salvador Sobral Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Excuse me if I bore you
When I talk about the things I like to do
Excuse me if I'm not like them
I'd always liked to think there's something else out there

For us the world is a gift
A spin as a day
A turn as a year
And if the day give us rain
Let's stare at the falling drops

In the air that I breathe when we wonder outside
Touch of sunlight when the world's getting dark
Slow down the pace of the clocks in our heads
So we can keep shaping the clouds

Excuse me
Is what you told me
When I didn't listen what you had to say
Maybe I am just like them
Forgetting you could also choose the way

Your view land they'd mind
Are two colour filters blazing my sky
Alone but together we'll share
The touch, the taste, the smell

Of the air that I breathe when we're wonder outside
Touch of sunlight when the world's getting dark
Slow down the pace of the clocks in our heads
So we can keep shaping the clouds

Excuse me
Is what you told me
When I didn't listen what you had to say
Maybe I am just like them
Forgetting you could also choose the way

Your view land they'd mind
Are two colour filters blazing my sky
Alone but together we'll share
The touch, the taste, the smell

Of the air that I breathe when we're wonder outside
Touch of sunlight when the world's getting dark

Slow down the pace of the clocks in our heads
So we can keep shaping the clouds

Overall Meaning

Salvador Sobral's song "Excuse Me" is a heartfelt confession from the singer to the listener. The song reflects Salvador's honest nature, as he acknowledges that he may not always be the most exciting person to talk to. He admits that he tends to talk about things that interest him, and sometimes forgets to listen to others. However, he also makes it clear that he doesn't want to be like everyone else, and he thinks there's something more to life than just going through the motions.

The lyrics touch on Salvador's appreciation for the natural world, and how he finds solace in simple pleasures like watching the rain fall. He likens the passing of time to the rotation of the earth, and encourages the listener to slow down and take notice of their surroundings. Salvador also contrasts his own perspective with that of others, suggesting that everyone sees the world through their own "colour filters" - but that he hopes they can still share experiences and appreciate each other's viewpoints.

Excuse me if I bore you
When I talk about the things I like to do
Excuse me if I'm not like them
I'd always liked to think there's something else out there
For us the world is a gift
A spin is a day
A turn is a year
And if the day gives us rain
Let's stare at the falling drops in the air
That I breathe when we wander outside
Touch of sunlight when it was getting dark
Slow down the pace of the clocks in our heads
So we can keep shaping the clouds

Excuse me, is what you told me
When I didn't listen what you had to say
Maybe I am just like them
Forgetting you could also choose a way
Your view blending with mine
Are two colour filters blazing my sky
Alone but together we'll share
The touch, the taste, the smell
Of the air that I breathe when we wander outside
Touch of sunlight when it was getting dark
Slow down the pace of the clocks in our heads
So we can keep shaping the clouds
Excuse me, is what you told me

Eri Grace you should check the whole album.. I really like the song Something Real (probably my favourite), it tells the story of his musical career I guess. More like the story of how he find his voice actually
