Her father was pop guitarist Joe Brown and her mother was a popular backing singer Vicki Brown. She appeared as singer with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, and in 1977 she was a backing singer on the Small Faces' final album In the Shade. Later, together with her mother as The Lillettes, she was a backing singer on Steve Marriott's Packet of Three: Live.
She recorded her debut album Stop! with her guitarist brother Pete Brown as producer. In 1988 the single "Stop" was released and almost a year later it topped the charts in Holland and Germany, reached number four in the U.K. charts; the album did likewise and went on to sell 2.5 million worldwide. Despite more chart singles, the follow-up April Moon (1990) managed only something over half a million sales, and sales of her third album 43 Minutes (1993) were also poor. Her independently-released album Box (1997) made 17,000-odd sales.
She spent some time as featured vocalist with Jools Holland & His Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, and was a backing singer on Pink Floyd's Division Bell tour in 1994. In 2000 the album Reboot was released. In April 2003 the BBC broadcast an interview with her, playing her ukulele and singing "Kiss of Love". Her most recent releases (2007) are Of the Moment and an EP of acoustic arrangements, Ukulele and Voice, recorded with her father.
Some new tracks have also been made available for listening on her Myspace profile, and her official fan club site [url=[officialsite]http://www.onecandle.co.uk]One Candle offers two demo tracks of the album.
Show Your Love

You told me again and again and again and again
It was a perfect life we shared
But you didn't show your Love
You didn't Show Your Love so fine
And the bottom line, at the end of the day
Is you didn't show me your love
You told me you'd hold me, you told me you'd treat me like your queen
Build me a castle made out of love
Like nobody'd ever seen
But you didn't show your Love
You didn't Show Your Love so fine
And the bottom line, at the end of the day
Is you didn't show me your love
Like I showed you mine
So now I've reached the end
And you know that I did my very best
But your hollow empty promises are driving me insane
Now I'm done with your lying I guess
You didn't show your Love
You didn't Show Your Love so fine
And the bottom line, at the end of the day
Is you didn't show me your love
Like I showed you mine
The lyrics of Sam Brown's song "Show Your Love" convey a sense of disappointment and frustration in a relationship where one person feels let down by the lack of reciprocation of love. The song begins with the singer reminiscing about all the promises of love they were given by their partner. The verses emphasize the repetition of these promises, as if to underscore the depth of the commitment that was professed. The singer had believed they were living a perfect life together, sharing love and affection.
However, the chorus reveals the central conflict of the song. Despite the partner's words, they did not demonstrate their love in actions. The singer feels let down and hurt, realizing that the love they showed was not reciprocated. The repeated refrain "You didn't show your love" highlights the disappointment and longing for the partner to genuinely demonstrate their affection.
As the song progresses, the singer reaches a breaking point. The bridge section expresses their exhaustion with the empty promises and deception. They acknowledge that they have done their best, but ultimately, the lack of tangible love from their partner has driven them to their limits. The final line signals the end of the relationship, as the singer declares they are done with the lying.
