Growing up in a musical family, Sam began singing in church at the age of five. By the time he was ten, Sam was already penning his own lyrics. Inspired by his sister who played the piano, he taught himself to play guitar, bass, piano, and drums. Sam was born a natural singer without any formal vocal coaching. His father, also a singer, is a big influence.
Sam draws his influences from such greats as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Eric Clapton, and Gavin DeGraw. He enjoys performing anything acoustic that has soul and is fond of rock, pop, soul, blues, jazz, and country music.
Sam has recently co-written with Jeff Scott Soto (former lead singer of the legendary rock band Journey, Talisman, Soul SirkUS, Yngwie Malmsteen). A few songs are to be released on Jeffβs new solo CD. This is what Jeff had to say about Sam: βBro, you are the freshest new artist out there. I will be telling the world about you and if there is anything I can do to help you along, rest assured I will. People need to hear Sam Grow. You will be a superstar my friend!β
Sam has also performed with Grammy award winner Kanye West, Kat Parsons, one of the highest selling independent artists in the US, and national touring artist singer/songwriter/pianist Dave Yaden (Marc Broussard, Josh Kelley, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson).
Samβs latest release βIgnitionβ is an infusion of Rock, Pop, and Soul that creates an enticing, new listening experience sure to satisfy the ear of a wide range audience. The first cut, βOh So Jadedβ, has become a crowd favorite. βWork in Progressβ, Samβs first CD release, is a five song EP full of Samβs soulful, bluesy sound. The single βMeant to Beβ was the featured track of the day on September 28, 2006 on GarageBand.com and the song peaked at 4.8 out of 5 stars.
This is just the start of Samβs promising career and he has already started a buzz among the industry.
Song About You
Sam Grow Lyrics

40 hour hard work dive bars
Two for one's and meeting somebody
Songs about rich and broke
Raise 'em high and friends in low
Small towns where everybody knows everybody
But tonight
I wanna hear a song about blue eyes
Making love all night
Wanting the ones that gonna drive me crazy
One about a black dress
Red lips, hot mess, slow kiss
Flyin' in and landing on me, baby
A little something we can turn up to
I wanna hear a song about you
A song about you
I've heard songs about summer days
Tan lines and tailgates
Wrong ways, make you stays
And boys 'round here
Songs about guitars
Open roads and fast cars
Shooting straight whiskey
And drinking ice cold beer
But tonight
Yeah, tonight
I wanna hear a song about blue eyes
Making love all night
Wanting the ones that gonna drive me crazy
One about a black dress
Red lips, hot mess, slow kiss
Flyin' in and landing on me, baby
A little something we can turn up to
I wanna hear a song about you
A song about you
I don't wanna hear a thing about goodbyes
Break lights, who's wrong
Who's right
Baby, I-
I wanna hear a song about blue eyes
Making love all night
Wanting the ones that gonna drive me crazy
One about a black dress
Red lips, hot mess, slow kiss
Flyin' in and landing on me, baby
A little something we can turn up to
I wanna hear a song about you
A song about you
I wanna hear a song about you
Yeah, a song about you
In the song "Song About You," Sam Grow shares his desire to hear a song that captures the essence of his current love interest. He acknowledges the many songs that exist about small town life, hard work, and partying, but he isn't interested in those themes tonight. Tonight he has something different on his mind - he wants a song about the person who is driving him wild. He longs to hear a song about her blue eyes, her black dress, her red lips, her hot mess, her slow kisses, and the way she flies into his life and takes over. He doesn't want to hear about goodbyes or the petty arguments that often arise in relationships; he just wants a song that celebrates the passion he feels for this particular person.
The lyrics of "Song About You" suggest that Sam Grow is infatuated with someone special and wants to hear a song that captures the essence of his desire. He wants to feel the rush of emotion that comes with being in love and wants others to hear about it too. This song celebrates the idea of wanting someone so much that you can't stop thinking about them and wanting to be with them. It suggests that love isn't just about the glamorous parts, but also the nitty-gritty details that make up a person's unique individuality.
