I’m 70, and grew up hearing music in a time when it was easy to find original songs, often written by the artists that sang them, that I found enjoyable in many ways:

Lyrics telling a relatable story

Melodies impossible to forget

Harmonies, rythyms, and music riffs that conveyed or sustained the emotion

Many such songs. Every year.

But for the last 30 or so years, few popular songs have been even close.

Hence when you tube recommended this new popular artists’ video to me, I couldn't have been more skeptical.

But I was pleasantly surprised.

Not only does Laufey sing and play as well many of those I remember, she can also write original songs that I find just as enjoyable as those written 60+ years ago.

You guys dont realize how clean someone's voice has to be to be that closely mic'd and sound that way. It's engineered, levelsd live but no matter how much post-production you do to clean up anything, the voice won't sound this pristine without it truly being that clean to begin with. Yup

I swear her timbre, or just her sound has this unique thing i can't explain, i also notice how she do slow vibratto it comes natural and not forced (like shaking ur jaw or head up and down), it's really hard to do when u don't have such control with ur voice. She is really amazing. ❤️

I am at work, and just came off the Scarface tiny desk. I was ill- prepared, to say the least, for the sheer talent and incredibly well-versed Laufey. I was in tears by the ten minute mark, and had to walk outside to compose myself. Only to come back in, and within 4 more minutes, I was in tears again. The amount of talent is just astounding, and quite frankly, hard to comprehend. I am a fan. Absolutely soul touching and inspiring! Merry Christmas.

I just love her Laufey and her music! She's an old soul in her genre of music. A fusion of classical tunes, the flow of oldies, gold standards of the 40's-50's era and the lyrics that tells the story of the musings of a young heart. So in a way the fusion of the old and new that makes her music timeless really!! Just beautiful. I keep singing her songs because it speaks so much about her heart 💜!

That was unbelievable, I had only ever heard the first song before. I just cried my eyes out. I can’t remember the last time music I hadn’t hear before hit me on such an emotional level. Such perfectly crafted songs, such palpable melancholy. I am overwhelmed in the best way possible.
