She began her singing career at the age of eight on Australian radio, and during this time she entered and won several talent quests. By the age of 15 she had her first hit record in Australia, with the song "You Made Me What I Am", and she won a "Best Female Vocalist" award. She quickly became a well known celebrity on Australian television, but she felt her career was limited if she remained in Australia. She travelled to the United Kingdom and performed with such groups as Herman's Hermits, The Hollies and the Bee Gees. Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees wrote "The Love Of A Woman" for her, and her recording became a hit in some European countries.
By the mid 1970s she had changed her name to Samantha Sang, and had moved to the United States where she renewed her acquaintance with the Bee Gees. The Gibb brothers wrote another song for her, which coincided with their huge level of popularity, and the single "Emotion" (with back-up vocals by the Bee Gees) became a major hit worldwide. It reached number 3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1978, and earned Sang a platinum record.
Determined to succeed on her own merits, she would not record another Gibb song to capitalise on her success, and chose a disco song, "You Keep Me Dancing" as her next single release. The song did not become a hit, stalling at number 57 in the U.S., and her career faltered.
In 2004, and residing again in Melbourne, Sang announced that she would return to live performing, and that her three albums would be released for the first time on CD.

Would you look the other way, afraid that we would meet?
Could it be that it's down to tears?
After all the love we knew, It was so hard losin' you
Now I feel it comin' on,
That emptiness again
'Cause I've been livin' without your love
Payin' the price inside
God knows, It's the hardest thing I'll ever do,
Losin' you
I tried to put the thoughts away
But I saw your face before me as you turned to walk away
And I just can't force a smile
'Cause it turned out so wrong after feelin' right so long
And I'm just not ready for
Another day alone
'Cause I've been livin' without your love
Just makin' believe I can still get by
Payin' the price inside
God knows, It's the hardest thing I'll ever do,
Losin' you
And I feel it comin' on,
That emptiness again
'Cause I've been livin' without your love
Just makin' believe I can still get by
Payin' the price inside
God knows, It's the hardest thing I'll ever do,
Livin' without you, Livin' without you
'Cause I've been livin' without your love
Just makin' believe I can still get by
Payin' the price inside
God knows, It's the hardest thing I'll ever do
Livin' without your love
Makin' believe I can still get by
Payin' the price inside
The song "Living Without Your Love" by Samantha Sang is a heartbreaking ballad about the pain of losing a loved one. The opening lines of the song convey a sense of desperation, as the singer wonders if the person they once loved would even acknowledge them if they passed by on the street. The fear of seeing the one who has left them is palpable, and it seems the singer would do anything to avoid the pain of that encounter.
The following verses recount the struggle to come to terms with the loss. The lyrics speak to the feeling of emptiness and the difficult task of pretending everything is okay. The lines "just makin' believe I can still get by/payin' the price inside" are particularly poignant, as they describe the internal agony of trying to move on from the breakup.
Despite the pain, the singer can't help remembering the good times they shared with the person they lost. It's a feeling that's hard to shake, and one that continues to haunt them even after the relationship has ended. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the maddening, never-ending cycle of pain and longing that comes with losing someone you love.
Overall, "Living Without Your Love" is a powerful song about heartbreak and the difficulty of moving on. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of the pain and emptiness that accompanies the loss of someone you love, and will no doubt resonate with anyone who has experienced a similar situation.
