I Need A House
Same Difference Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Finding love in a changing world
Finding peace, in simplicity
Finding out where i come from
Finding courage, finding faith
Finding acceptance in a narrow space
Finding time, when time has gone
Chorus
I need a house, I need a room
I need a bed to sleep in
I need a coffee and a kitchen sink
I need a friend, I need a love, I need someone who'll miss me
When I get home
Don't wanna be alone
Finding the gate, finding the door
Finding the streets I used to walk before
When I was free, when I could see
When I was crazy
I wish somebody told me that
Chorus
I wonder, what about reality
I wonder who'll be staring at me
When I look into my mirror
Mmm mmm mmm
I wonder what love means
Chorus x3
The lyrics to Same Difference's song "I Need A House" express the desires of the human heart for comfort, love, and companionship in a constantly changing world. The song opens on a reflective note, with the singer searching for truth and love amidst all the confusion that life often presents. There is a longing for peace and simplicity, as well as a desire to understand one's origins and to find courage and faith in the face of difficulty.
The chorus of the song emphasizes the need for a physical space that serves as a refuge from the stresses of everyday life. The singer longs for a home, a room, a bed to sleep in, and a kitchen sink to prepare coffee in. The desire for companionship is also expressed through the need for a friend, a love, and someone who will miss them when they're away. The repetition of the line "Don't wanna be alone" emphasizes the importance of connection and community in the human experience.
In the second verse, the singer describes the process of rediscovering one's roots and reconnecting with the places that were once familiar. There's a sense of nostalgia for a time when everything seemed simpler and clearer, and a desire to recapture the sense of freedom and wonder that may have been lost along the way. The chorus is repeated three times, underscoring the depth of the singer's emotional need for the things they've described.
Overall, "I Need A House" is a poignant and relatable expression of the universal human longing for stability, love, and connection in a rapidly shifting world.
