Their most well known single is "Curious", from their debut album Bionic.
Following the dissolution of the band, guitarist Mike Smith went on to play Bubbles, a popular character in the Canadian cult hit television series Trailer Park Boys.[1]
They were nominated for Best New Group at the Juno Awards of 1996. They also won three East Coast Music Awards.
SandboxUK is Lennie (Vocals/Guitar); Paul (Guitar); Andy (Drums) & Will (Bass/Keyboards), a four piece indie band from Manchester. They are four friends that met whilst at school/college and bonded through a shared love of 90s indie, when the world was a nicer place and everybody was happy!
They have been described as "Blondie fronting The Smiths" by Designer Magazine, Sandbox have rapidly gained a reputation as one of the best live acts in Manchester since releasing their third EP, 'Back to the City', thanks to a number of high profile support slots including opening up for Howling Bells, Mobile, The Checks and Tokyo Police Club.
As 2008 draws to a close, Sandbox are rounding the year off in a truly hectic style. After recently playing at The Aftershow’s 1st Birthday party, they have gigs booked all over Manchester, which culminates in their annual Christmas Ball in December. They’re also featuring as part of a year long exhibition at Salford Art Gallery which traces the history of music in Salford. The exhibition, ‘Quiffs, Riffs and Tiffs’, opens in October! The band are also putting the finishing touches to their new ep… All of which should keep them occupied and out of mischief for the time being!

Searching for a pot of gold
Never knew, never told
And I wonder where you are... curious
There was a time, I knew a man
Who traveled in a caravan
He said, "seek and you shall find"
And I wonder where you are...curioous
And I wonder where you are...safe I trust
And I wonder where you are...curious
Hey what's that?, far away
(ooooohhhh)
Same mirage, as yesterday
(ooooohhhh)
Hey there mister got a drug to take my mind away
And I wonder where you are..curious
and I wonder where you are...safe I trust
and I wonder where you are...curious
Fourty years down the road
(you say, "I know")
Haven't found that pot of gold
(all these faces I don't know)
Getting tired, i'm going home
And I wonder where you are...curious
And I wonder where you are...safe I trust
And I wonder where you are...
The Sandbox song "Curious" seems to be about a person who is constantly searching for something but never quite finding it. The lyrics mention taking a train and searching for a pot of gold, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for pursuing some elusive goal or dream. The singer is filled with curiosity and wonder about where this train will take them and what they will find. However, despite traveling with a man who encourages them to seek and promises that they shall find, the singer has not yet found what they are looking for.
As the song progresses, the singer becomes more and more disillusioned with their search. They encounter a mirage that they saw before, implying that their journey is circular and perhaps pointless. They even consider turning to drugs to escape their thoughts, showing the desperation that they feel. Despite all of this, they remain curious about where they will end up and where their search will take them.
The final verse shows the singer at the end of their journey, forty years down the road. They express disappointment that they haven't found their "pot of gold" and are tired of searching. They mention seeing many faces they don't know, which could represent all of the people they have encountered but who have not helped them find what they were looking for. Despite this weariness, however, they remain curious about where they are and where they will go next.
Overall, the song seems to capture the feeling of being lost and searching for something that may or may not exist. The singer's curiosity keeps them going, but in the end they may not find what they were looking for.

Here's a song that's lived in my young millenial memory for years, hearing this on alt/rock stations in the early 2000s. Totally forgot about this. So cool to hear this again.

This is one of my top favourite 90's songs. I find the beat and cadence so I dunno, soothing. Whenever I hear it now, some 25 years+ later, the guitar riff bring this nostalgic feeling. Epic 90's tune for sure!
And sidenote, I never got into watching TPB, so I didn't know which band member played Bubbles (Mike Smith), he's one of the guitarists for anyone on the same boat as me.

I remember this great song! I just never knew it had Bubbles in it. New respect.
