1. Sansa offers a fresh breeze of new acoustic folk-pop on Texicalli Records with her self- titled release, out now. She is an up-and-coming artist hailing from Helsinki, Finland. Drawing from a wide variety of influences, her sound is characterised by its direct approach and a natural way of showcasing the talented singer-songwriter’s persona.
Although drawn into the world of sounds and music already as a teen, it was not before Sansa turned 20 that she started to concentrate in her music more seriously. She started studying music and consuming it obsessively, with an equal love of simple blues, all kinds of jazz, soulful folk/pop/soul, Finnish good old folkie, Debussy and even operettos.
Like the tracks on her new album go to show, what Sansa has transformed this all into is a delightful bag of surprises, staying true to her own voice all through the album’s down- home groove of ten original compositions. From the opener and Sansa’s self-proclaimed favourite track ‘Sorry My Love’ via the rootsy groove of ‘Nectar’ to the dreamy pop of closing track ‘Is It You’, the album meanders along with a momentum not often belonging to a record of an artist just getting started on their solo career. That being said, Sansa has already made a strong impression on the live scene by opening for acts such as Robert Plant, Genesis, Katie Melua and Bryan Adams.
In addition to being active as a guitarist and singer, songwriter, and also as an arranger on the album, Sansa has gathered a potent group of innovative colleagues around her. Producer Janne Oinas’ name is a regular find on the credits of recent Finnish pop masterpieces, guitarist Miika Colliander is familiar to many due to his work with Husky Rescue, and drummer Tatu Rönkkö holds the seat of many an accomplished contemporary jazz ensemble.
According to musical sources of inspiration, Sansa reports “life in general” as being high on her “favourite artists” list: people, countries, movies, nature and sudden encounters are just examples of themes that shine through on Sansa’s new album. While somewhat self- explanatory, these references perhaps indicate why the talented artist can boast such a mature take on her art. By keeping things simple and inserting enough of her own soul into the music, Sansa succeeds in one of the most difficult things in the business: sounding like herself.
2. sansa (산사) is a South Korean singer-songwriter. She made her solo debut on June 14, 2022, with her first digital single "Floundering".

Your cologne on my scarf
Closeness in my mind
I’ve been walking miles here in between
This town a lonely one
Living on memories of you
You’re half the worldaway from me
My heart’s torn in pieces
Tying up our kisses
When you held me I loved it so bad it hurt
It felt like flying across the universe
When you touched me I loved it so bad oh it hurt
Now I keep on trying
But I’m falling down falling down
falling down falling
All those 10 thousand words of repair
Tell me I should move on
But I hear sweet nothings
Lulling me to sleep in this woeful town
Holding onto memories
My only remedy
You’re half the world
away from me
My heart’s torn in pieces
Picking up old wishes
In the song "Half the World" by Sansa, the lyrics paint a picture of longing and distance between two people who are physically apart but deeply connected emotionally. The singer expresses the pain of being far away from their loved one, with vivid imagery like the mention of the partner's cologne on their scarf and the feeling of closeness in their mind. The physical distance is emphasized with the line "10 thousand miles apart," setting the stage for the emotional journey the singer is on.
The chorus of the song highlights the emotional turmoil of being separated from their partner, with the repeated refrain "You’re half the world away from me" emphasizing the vast distance between them. The singer's heart is described as being torn in pieces, reflecting the intense pain and longing they feel for their partner. The imagery of "Tying up our kisses" suggests a bittersweet attempt to hold onto the memories and the connection they once shared.
The verses convey the depth of the singer's feelings for their partner, with descriptions of the overwhelming joy and pain they experienced in their presence. The sensation of love being so intense that it hurts is expressed through lines like "When you held me I loved it so bad it hurt" and "When you touched me I loved it so bad oh it hurt." These moments of closeness are contrasted with the singer's current state of trying to move on but feeling like they are constantly falling down, unable to escape the gravity of their emotions.
The song captures the struggle of holding onto memories and old wishes while trying to come to terms with the reality of the distance between them and the uncertainty of the future. Despite the advice to move on and the acknowledgment of the pain they are feeling, the singer finds solace in the memories of their time together. The lyrics reflect a mix of hope and despair, as the singer grapples with the emotional distance between them and the longing for their partner who is half a world away.
