Under the bridge
Santana Andy Vargas Lyrics

Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner
Sometimes I feel like my only friend
Is the city I live in, the city of angels
Lonely as I am, together we cry

I drive on her streets 'cause she's my companion
I walk through her hills 'cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds and she kisses me windy
But, I never worry, now that is a lie

I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love, take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love, take me all the way,
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh, yeah

It's hard to believe that there's nobody out there
It's hard to believe that I'm all alone
At least I have her love, the city, she loves me
Lonely as I am, together we cry

I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love, take me all the way
I don't ever wanna feel like I did that day
Take me to the place I love, take me all the way,
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, oh, I say, yeah yeah
Love me, I say, yeah yeah
Ooh, ooh, I said, yeah yeah

One time

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough

Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away

Under the bridge downtown
Is where I drew some blood
Under the bridge downtown
I could not get enough

Under the bridge downtown
Forgot about my love
Under the bridge downtown
I gave my life away

I gave my life away
I gave my life away, yeah

Overall Meaning

The song "Under The Bridge" by Santana Andy Vargas speaks about the relationship that the singer has with the city of Los Angeles, which he calls the ‘City of Angels'. The song explores how the city has been a companion to him through his loneliness, and how he walks through its hills and streets because it feels like it knows him. The lyrics also depict the city as a lover, acknowledging the good deeds the singer does and rewarding him with kisses of wind. However, the singer confesses that he is not as carefree as he appears; he worries about the day he felt lonely, and he doesn't want to feel like he did that day again. The song ends with the bridge, where the singer admits he drew some blood but forgets about his love and gave his life away.

The song's lyrics highlight the relationship between the artist and the city he calls home, and how it has helped him through loneliness. It's a feeling many people can relate to, and it's part of why the song has resonated so deeply. To further explain the lyrics, he mentions that the bridge he talks about is supposed to be the 4th Street Bridge, an iconic location in Los Angeles that also appears in several other media outlets. Though these lyrics are specific to the city, they convey the message that people can find a home or a companion in a place or thing, and that can make all the difference.

why does everyone hate this? sure it doesnt sound like the original, thats because its a cover... whats the point in trying to play it exactly as the original? Santana made it his own, he does Salsa and latin style music, so guess what, he tweaked this song to make it his own, and I think for what he was trying to do, he's perfected it

@2ombi3.

My guess is that people find this song and expect it to be RHCP, and don't understand Santanas music and style(which you point out) but, oh well. We can jam it and they can wait over there. My father gave this album to me as a birthday present and changed my life. Now I play guitar, and listen to this on his birthdays

@leadersama09
