Her songs are haunted by the unexpected fusion of the classically influenced piano, wistful strings, strange harmonies, and pop bent.
She fell in love with music at exactly the moment her seven-year-old fingers touched the keys of her family’s tired and old spinet piano, and was inspired by composers such as Chopin, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Soler, Schumann, and Bach, and their passion and ability to connect with their audience generation after generation. Performing at countless recitals and competitions, she became a fine classical pianist. From an early age, Jackson-Holman was also in love with reading, beautiful words, good literature, metaphors, and poetry. And ever since she could speak, she loved to sing. In the March of 2008, she began to reconcile her love of piano, poetry, singing, and pop music, and became fascinated with this medium of communication that so happily married her favorite passions.
Empty Arms

let it go and repeat
Empty arms, let them reach,
let them reach out to me
Cold that burns in a heart
that yearns for the moon
Cast your fears, shed your doubts
and come to me soon
Finding it so far above the ground
(happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through)
And I, no I knocked too many down
(bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you)
Happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through
Bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you
Cold, cold light? that come
and subside, once again
Take a breath, step it back,
close yours eyes, jump in
Finding it so far above the ground
(happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through)
And I, no I knocked too many down
(bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you)
Finding it so far above the ground
(happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through)
And I, no I knocked too many down
(bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you)
Happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through
Bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you
The lyrics to Sara Jackson-Holman's song "Empty Arms" seem to describe someone who is emotionally guarded and struggling to let someone else in. The repetition of phrases such as "reel it in" and "let it go and repeat" suggest that the singer is grappling with conflicting emotions about opening themselves up to love. The line "empty arms, let them reach out to me" appears to be an invitation for someone to approach the singer, but they also acknowledge the fear and doubt that can come with letting someone in.
The chorus seems to describe the singer's desire for happiness and connection, but with a sense of hesitation or apprehension: "finding it so far above the ground" could be interpreted as feeling like happiness is out of reach, or that it's a challenge to achieve. The line "no, I knocked too many down" could suggest that past experiences have made the singer wary of attempting connections with others. The repeated phrase "happiness close, so I can feel it creepin' through/bright and new, crawl up to the sky to be with you" could be interpreted as a hopeful declaration that the singer is ready to take a chance on love, despite the risks.
Overall, the song seems to be about the push-pull of opening oneself up to love, grappling with the fear of getting hurt, and finally coming to a place of vulnerability and hopefulness.
