Born on 1April in Delaware, one of the smallest US states, Sara displays a strong interest in musical comedies from an early age and thankfully discovers the jazz standards. She takes piano lessons at 8 and starts playing the saxophone so as to join her high school band. At 16, she joins the American Youth Jazz Band as a tenor saxophonist and singer and starts on European tour with the band culminating at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Back in the US, Sara studies literature at Harvard University. She joins the Harvard University Jazz Band and meets the tenor saxophonist Illinois Jacquet who asks her to be a guest singer in his band and strongly advises her to keep going in the same direction. She is awarded the best vocal jazz soloist prize (university standard) by the Downbeat magazine, a main American jazz magazine.
After graduating, Sara decides to settle in France. She takes part in numerous European festivals like Marciac, Crest Jazz Vocal, Montlouis, Braga and the JVC Paris Jazz Festival. She has been given the opportunity to sing with such musicians as Alain Jean-Marie, Jacky Terrasson, Manuel Rocheman, Frank Amsallem, Riccardo del Fra, Gilles Naturel and Andrea Michelluti.
In November 2000, she sings in Patrice Caratini Jazz Ensemble for his project centring on Cole Porter music and takes part in his record “Anything Goes” / Harmonia Mundi distribution.
Following the great tradition of female jazz singers, Sara draws from the lore of standards to give free way to her true and tender nature and to her swing rhythm.
In mars 2005, her first album is published (Give Me A Simple Life) under the Dreyfus jazz label. The record is praised both by the press and the public. There follows a tour in France and Europe along with worthwhile performances in the great jazz festivals.
After this successful first opus, Sara Lazarus records a new studio album with a new group. Surrounded by Biréli Lagrène Gipsy Project, Sara Lazarus sets her delicate and temperate voice on the 12 standards of It’s All Right With Me (nov. 2006).
Exuding a compelling swing rhythm and entrancing ballads, this second album highlights the obvious gift of this young Franco American artist and is set to place her for ever as one of the outstanding jazz voices.
Morning
Sara Lazarus Lyrics

That brings the day so gently
It bathes the leaves of memories
I felt so long ago
I still recall you
In all these early hours
If I were there once more to share
The crassness of youth
Concluding only half of the truth
Exuding only one small percent
Of what I surely felt for you
And then one morning
It brought the day so gently
We set apart things of the heart
And lost love long ago
What of a morning
It brings the day so gently
It bathes the leaves of memories
I felt so long ago
I still recall you
In all these early hours
If I were there once more to share
A love lost long ago
The crassness of youth
Concluding only half of the truth
Exuding only one small percent
Of what I felt for you
And then one morning
It brought the day so gently
We set apart things of the heart
And lost love long ago
We lost love long ago
We lost it
We lo-lo-lost it
We lost our love
We lost our love
We lost, lost, lost, lo-
We lost our love long ago
Long ago
The lyrics to “Morning”, by Sara Lazarus, fill the listener with a powerful sense of nostalgia and lost love. The opening lines refer to a morning that “brings the day so gently” and “bathes the leaves of memories I felt so long ago”. This day is a metaphor for a period in the past that was characterized by tenderness and warmth, and that the singer longs for. From there, she describes how she recalls someone from that period – someone she would share her love with – during the “early hours” of the morning. She dreams of being able to rekindle this relationship, for it is something that she “lost long ago”.
The song continues to muse on the nature of love, and how it can be so easily lost. The “crassness of youth” is mentioned, a reminder of times where the singer rushed into things and didn’t appreciate the depth of her feelings. But now, listening to these gentle melodies, she realizes that those times were characterized by “only half of the truth”; a subtle indication that youth and inexperience don’t last forever, and that the singer has matured. She wonders what could have been different had she understood then how much she truly cared for her loved one. The refrain repeats the phrase “We lost love long ago”, as though it is a regretful prayer.
The song has an almost wistful quality to its melody, with the trumpet and piano creating a slow and jazzy tune that adds to the sense of longing. The use of imagery in the lyrics is also significant, likely intended to help the listener connect with their own past memories of love and loss. The phrase “bathes the leaves of memories” is a particularly evocative one, conjuring up images of autumn leaves being slowly but steadily washed clean by the gentle morning dew. Ultimately, the lyrics to “Morning” are an exploration of what could have been, and a reminder of how it is possible to lose that which we hold most dear.

Very good music: Sara is one of the best vocalists that I have heard in years.
But if this is what we have to do to seduce U.S. Affluent Upper Middle -Class 'City folks to appreciate Latin music it comes with a price.
Just plays this after poor Latinos/a folks that cut your grass, prepare your food, and clean your floors have gone home after you have exploited them.
Just a modern version of " Gone with the Wind."
...and you are using Pharmaceuticals to afford a good fuck.
Real Afro-Latin music is well beyond your comprehension.

She's excellent. I looked for this song for many days after hearing it in a supermarket, with only a few of the words stored in mind. I'm really very glad to have found it in the end! And I love her face and how she smiles and moves, so spontaneous and genuine.
