Violinist, singer and composer: three words that describe Sara Parkman. However, they are not enough to cover the width of what she has achieved during her career, which already stretches over more than 15 years. Her debut album as a solo artist was entitled Sara Parkmans Skog (2016), and it was awarded ‘Artist of the year’ at Folk & Världsmusikgalan, a Swedish gala to celebrate folk and world music. But Sara Parkman's most acclaimed release to date was 2019's Vesper. Named after the Christian evening prayer, this album was an exploration of the sacred through music. It was received by unanimously impressed critics and earned her a Swedish Grammy nomination as well as the newspaper Dagens Nyheter's Culture Prize.

Jag ropar ut all min skit och mitt skav
Och i det rummet vi delar i lugnet
Och allt blir varligt och går att va i
Och i det rummer vi delar lugnet
Och allt blir varligt och går att va i
In Sara Parkman's song "Jag ropar," the lyrics describe the act of crying out one's innermost thoughts and feelings. The singer declares that they are shouting out all of their inner demons and emotional baggage. The use of the word "skit" (meaning "dirt" or "crap" in Swedish) adds to the rawness of the emotions being expressed. The song then shifts to a shared space between two people, where the calmness of the room allows for everything to be felt and experienced in a peaceful manner. The repetition of the phrase "Och i det rummet vi delar i lugnet/Och allt blir varligt och går att va i" emphasizes the importance of finding a safe space and someone to share it with, where everything is accepted and understood.

Jag ropar ut mitt innersta hav
I am screaming about the deepest, most personal turmoil within me.
Jag ropar ut all min skit och mitt skav
I am shouting out all my filth and flaws.
Och i det rummet vi delar i lugnet
And in the calmness of the space we share,
Och allt blir varligt och går att va i
Everything becomes gentle and easy to exist in.
Och i det rummer vi delar lugnet
And in that space of shared tranquility,
Och allt blir varligt och går att va i
Everything becomes gentle and easy to exist in.
