Bad Man
Sarah Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She's just seventeen
Could have been a beauty queen
Now her left cheek is bruised
So she covers it with rouge
She has strawberry hair
Bright lips and a skin so fair
Takes a hit of her cigarette
As a spider on is web

CHORUS:
Bad man in a fancy car
He said "Come on girl, I'll make you a star"
Bad man rolled his window down
He said "I'm your way out"
Bad man in a fancy car
He said "Come on girl, I'll make you a star"
Bad man rolled his window down
He said " I'm your way out"

She's just seventeen
A vision in painted-on jeans
She's a hooker by night
A shadow in the distant light
Somebody's pulling over
Another man undercover
He flashes money from inside
As honey drips from the hive

CHORUS

She lost her way in
Now she's trying to get out
She's climbing a barbed-wire fence
But he's holding her down, down

CHORUS

Overall Meaning

The song "Bad Man" by Sarah paints a picture of a young girl's pain and vulnerability as she falls prey to the manipulation of an older man who preys on her dreams of becoming a star. The first verse describes the physical toll of the abuse that she suffers, with her left cheek bruised and covered up with rouge. Despite this, she has a striking appearance with strawberry hair and fair skin. The second verse reveals her nighttime profession as a hooker, highlighting the desperation that drives her to submit to the advances of men who promise her a way out of her current life. In the chorus, the "bad man in a fancy car" offers the young girl a path to fame and fortune, but his true intentions are sinister and exploitative.

The lyrics provide a vivid depiction of the dark reality of the sex industry, where young girls are often lured into a life of exploitation, violence, and despair. The singer's description of the "bad man" represents the harrowing experiences of countless women who fall victim to the manipulation, coercion, and violence of pimps and clients. The song serves as a powerful message about the dangers of the sex industry and the need to protect vulnerable individuals from being preyed upon by those who seek to profit from their pain.

I came across this woman’s story when researching why black female entertainers are so vulgar IMO and I learned so much about Sarah’s story.

I have read a few articles and thought about how Miss KK placed having a big ass as the greatest asset a woman can have in 2022.

I was thinking about Jennifer Lopez and how she drew attention or I should respectfully say that American men are certainly interested in her behind and then KK brought it on and in this time of our history it appears as if young women are trying their best to have a huge backside.

In my time of puberty, the sex symbol was the model known as Twiggy. This was difficult for me to produce a “Twiggy” body type. I stopped eating and exercised and made it to a diet of eating a salad every other day.

My problem was my bust I was a 36 DD so it was difficult to get my bust size down and eventually started taking speed ending up in the ER because my heart was trying to die.

So then I moved on to crazy diets and always ended up back into my body at 140 lbs at 5’3. I think if I had had a mentor, a mother who cared about me, or some self esteem I wouldn’t have spent half of my life trying to have a body like “Twiggy”

It didn’t help that I had 2 brothers letting me know that I was fat, stupid and ugly every day with no mommy or daddy to protect me from my tormentors!

I’m 61 now and I finally accepted my body about 10 years ago when I was 52? Anyway I have learned so much more about the topic of how women’s bodies have been exploited for centuries and even to this day! It appears as if certain black entertainers are throwing their big butts in our faces to show their strength about their sexuality almost in my mind as, look at my ass, my lips listen to me sing about riding and sliding see how powerful I am. Girl! I’m not feeling your power.

I felt so bad for this lady. Leered at and paraded like a freak, abused and a short sad life. I hope she rests in peace.

Poor lady. I knew her story, but I watched it again because I think she should be remembered as the human being she was, not as the exhibit she was treated as. Giving her a face goes some way to helping to make this a reality. Thank you.

Poor Sarah... used and abused by ignorant moneygrubbers. Unfortunately this was an era totally lacking in empathy and sympathy for anyone who was not physically typical. Thank you for your excellent account of her story.

Hottentots was a pejorative term used by the White settlers in S. Africa the correct name is Khoekhoe, also spelt Khoikhoi. It is ironic that the Europeans ridiculed Baartman's physique at a time when European women would wear bustles to create that same look, cognitive dissonance is a curious thing. UK
