1. Sarah (Denmark) Sarah Skaalum Jørgensen (Born July 6th, 1995), better known as Sarah, rose to fame after winning the fourth season of X Factor in Denmark. She started singing early, appearing in musicals and joined a musical band when she was 12. She plays guitar, piano, bass and drums and also loves to draw and paint. She is out and openly lesbian.
She gained worldwide attention mainly because of her being open about her lesbian sexuality at such a young age of 15. Shortly after her winning the competition the world’s biggest LGBT media congratulated her while mentioning her victory as the first lesbian to win any version of the X Factor in the world. But in the Danish media it has often be discussed that people shouldn’t focus on her sexuality but on her singing skills.

Can I Believe?
Sarah Lyrics

They said "There'll be peace on Earth"
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winter's light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas-tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
They told me a fairy story
Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked at the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn, in the first light of dawn
And I saw him through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish, pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said "There'll be snow at Christmas"
They said "There'll be peace on Earth"
Hallelujah, Noel!
Be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas we get we deserve
The lyrics of Sarah's song "Can I Believe?" are a reflection on the disillusionment with the societal expectations of Christmas and the disappointments that come with them. The song begins with the idea of the promises made by traditions and the contrast to what is actually experienced. The idea of hope and peace is shattered by the image of tears instead of snow and a yoke instead of promised peace.
The song walks down one person's memory lane who remembers fondly a moment in time when Christmas was magical and truly special. The bells ringing, the choir singing and the smell of that Christmas tree. It is here where Father Christmas also becomes an important character because all the hopes, the excitement, the spark in the eyes, that one has as a child, were believed to be fulfilled by this symbol of joy. But, as the song progresses, it is revealed that Father Christmas is the same as the people that "sold a dream of Christmas" and a "fairy story" and that he too went undercover to hide the truth.
The song concludes with Sarah sending her wishes for a hopeful Christmas and a brave New Year, along with the idea that the Christmas we receive is what we deserve. The song leaves us with the idea that it's up to us to make our own Christmas special and not rely on the societal standards set upon us.

They said "There'll be peace on Earth"
The people assured that Christmas will bring about a cessation in war/hostilities and bring calm and tranquility to the world.
But instead it just kept on raining
Contrary to these promises, it keeps raining, signifying that Christmas is perhaps not that different from any other day.
A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth
The rain could symbolize the sorrow and tears Mary shed during childbirth, and also perhaps the sadness that many people feel during Christmas, and the harsh realities of life that they must face.
I remember one Christmas morning
The singer recollects a particular Christmas morning from the past.
A winter's light and a distant choir
The ambiance of that morning included dim sunlight and a faraway choir, which perhaps makes the memory feel distant and otherworldly.

The sounds of bells and the sweet scent of the Christmas tree add to the memory of that morning.

The people's eyes were bright and full of excitement and holiday cheer, as if they were reflecting the glitter and shimmer of tinsel.

'Till I woke with a yawn, in the first light of dawn
Her belief in Santa seems childish when she wakes up early on Christmas morning to no presents and is rather underwhelmed.

Metaphorically, she seems to have realized that the illusion of Christmas and the commercialization of it was all just smoke and mirrors, and that the true meaning was something entirely different.

The Christmas we get, we deserve
The final line echoes the idea that we create our own reality, and thus we will eventually have the Christmas that we have envisioned for ourselves.
