She started singing early, appearing in musicals and joined a musical band when she was 12. She plays guitar, piano, bass and drums and also loves to draw and paint. She is out and openly lesbian.
She gained worldwide attention mainly because of her being open about her lesbian sexuality at such a young age of 15. Shortly after her winning the competition the world’s biggest LGBT media congratulated her while mentioning her victory as the first lesbian to win any version of the X Factor in the world. But in the Danish media it has often be discussed that people shouldn’t focus on her sexuality but on her singing skills.

Sarah Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When leaving my bed is the last thing I want to do
Cause if I just lay here, I can dream
That I never lost your love and I’m in your arms again
Well maybe someday I’ll see how lucky I’ve been
But all I know is right now I’m drowning
I’ve seen before how love goes bad
So if I had to make the choice
Would I choose love again?
Had I just turned away
Tried to resist that look you gave
Pulling me to you and holding me there
I would not be lying here wishing you still cared
Well maybe someday I’ll see how lucky I’ve been
But all I know is right now I’m drowning
I’ve seen before how love goes bad
But now I feel the pain
So if I had to make the choice
Would I choose love again?
What stays with me is not the memory of our love
What stays with me is what we’ve become
I’ve seen before how love goes bad
But now I feel the pain
So if I had to make the choice
Would I choose love again?
In the lyrics of Sarah's song "Drowning," the singer expresses her deep sense of longing and heartache after losing a love that was dear to her. The opening lines convey a sense of despair and reluctance to face the day, symbolized by the contrast between the bright blue sky and her reluctance to leave her bed. She finds solace in dreaming about a reality where she hasn't lost the love she once had, seeking refuge in the memory of being in her lover's arms again.
The lyrics then delve into the internal conflict and confusion that the singer is experiencing. She acknowledges that she may come to realize the value of the love she had in the future, but in the present moment, she is overwhelmed by feelings of drowning in sorrow and regret. The past experiences of heartbreak that she references contribute to her fear of getting hurt again, posing the question of whether it is worth risking her heart for love once more.
The singer reflects on a moment in the past where she could have potentially avoided the pain she is now feeling by resisting the pull of love and intimacy. This sense of regret and hindsight intensifies her current feelings of longing and hoping for a love that seems lost. The repeated refrain emphasizes her current state of emotional turmoil, highlighting the rawness of her pain and uncertainty about the future.
The closing lines of the song shift the focus from the memory of their past love to the reality of their current situation. The singer laments not the love that once was, but the painful aftermath of what their relationship has become. The lyrics end with the poignant question of whether she would choose love again if given the chance, underscoring the internal struggle and vulnerability that define her emotional journey throughout the song.
