You say you're colorblind

What do you see when you see me?
You say unbiased mind
But tell me,
What's your experience being free?
Moving in the dark
It can be so hard
Stepping through the traps
Set to keep you down
Caught up in the fire
Of our own desire

The lyrics to Sarah's song "Emotions" delve into the concept of blind emotions and the consequences they can have on our interactions with others. The repetition of "blind emotions" emphasizes the idea of being unaware or ignorant of the true impact of our emotions and how they can shape our actions.
The first verse questions the perception of colorblindness and unbiased thinking. The singer asks what the person sees when they look at them, highlighting the complexity of identity and the importance of genuine understanding and empathy. The second verse explores the contradiction between proclaiming love for one's own kind while displaying prejudice or discrimination towards others. The line about crossing the street suggests a literal act of avoidance or separation, symbolizing the tendency to distance oneself from what is different or unfamiliar.
The chorus serves as a reminder of the overall theme, repeating the phrase "blind emotions." It captures the struggle of navigating through life's challenges, symbolized by moving in the dark, stepping through traps, and being caught in the fire of desire. This suggests that our emotions, if unchecked or misunderstood, can lead us astray and hinder our ability to form meaningful connections with others.
Overall, "Emotions" urges listeners to reflect on their own emotions and how they may unconsciously influence their interactions with others. It encourages empathy, understanding, and the need for self-awareness in order to break free from the limitations of blind emotions.

@John Paul Acopiado the fact that Sarah has perfected all the highlight runs efortlessly here is already a testament to her agility. Many Filipino singers struggle to hit the scales of the runs in this song alone. They try to mask it by adding unnecessary runs with basic scales. I don't really want to talk about that video, but I'll just say one thing. I have seen artists in that video who were ranked higher than Sarah but has more sloppy and "limited" runs. I am a jazz/soul singer and I know what a "hard" run is. Not every "multiple connected runs" is always hard to execute, and that's it. I'm done.

@John Paul Acopiado I don't want to comment about the channel because I don't want to have channel wars. I'm just gonna defend Sarah here. Sarah has done really agile runs in her performances of "Sandata", "Love on The Brain", "If I Ain't Got You", "Emotions", "Burlesque", and "Best Thing I Never Had". I think she's more than just decent. She has proven her agility in multiple performances already. She does not need to overdo her runs to prove she's agile. Her "scaling" is another issue. I don't think other content creators can make contents about "scales". It takes a real musician/instrumentalist with knowledge in jazz/blues/soul/gospel music to identify what scales they are using in a run. Scaling in a vocal run is like what guitar/piano players do. They have memorized different complex scales in music theory and they play with them to create improvisations/adlibs. I have featured the scales Sarah has used in her runs in my video "Part 2: The common misconceptions in Sarah Geronimo's singing". It takes a real musician to analyze Sarah Geronimo's singing. Her techniques are not the typical techniques you just learn on wikipedia. She is a legit jazz trained singer, and that can't be learned that from the internet. You need expensive training in western countries to learn those. π
