1. Sarah (Denmark) Sarah Skaalum Jørgensen (Born July 6th, 1995), better known as Sarah, rose to fame after winning the fourth season of X Factor in Denmark. She started singing early, appearing in musicals and joined a musical band when she was 12. She plays guitar, piano, bass and drums and also loves to draw and paint. She is out and openly lesbian.
She gained worldwide attention mainly because of her being open about her lesbian sexuality at such a young age of 15. Shortly after her winning the competition the world’s biggest LGBT media congratulated her while mentioning her victory as the first lesbian to win any version of the X Factor in the world. But in the Danish media it has often be discussed that people shouldn’t focus on her sexuality but on her singing skills.
2. Sarah (USA) Sarah Perino is an 18 year old, self-taught keyboard artist from Pittsburgh. Her main composition/arranging genre is jazz/new age, with a mix of classical and modern as well. Her first strong influence was Keiko Matsui, which branched out into an endless myriad of other artists, including Bob Dylan on one end of the spectrum and Henry Mancini on the other. Sarah harbors what might be termed, the epitomy of an eclectic soul.

Ik laat me gaan
Sarah Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
In een kamer zonder ramen
Het duister schijnt mijn licht kapot
Mijn ziel die snakt naar adem
Gevangen in dit rijtjesland
Ik kruip door betonnen muren
Ik zie ik zie wat jij niet ziet
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Niemand komt me halen
En niemand roept mijn naam
Vannacht laat ik de teugels los
En zwerf over de aarde
De horizon die wacht op mij
Ik kies voor mijn eigenwaarde
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Niemand komt me halen
En niemand roept mijn naam
Neem me mee (neem me mee)
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Ik laat me gaan
Niemand komt me halen
En niemand roept mijn naam
The lyrics of "Ik laat me gaan" by Sarah describe a feeling of being trapped and isolated in a room without windows and with the door locked. This situation causes the singer to feel lost and hopeless, as their soul is struggling to take in air. The phrase "gevangen in dit rijtjesland" translates to being trapped in this ordered society, where the individual is losing control of their life, and everything seems to be pre-determined for them. The concrete walls around them symbolize the boundaries and limitations that the singer faces, which leads them to feel powerless in their life.
However, in the chorus, the singer decides to let go of their fears and take control of their life. The repetition of "Ik laat me gaan" emphasizes the commitment that the singer has made to break free from their constraints. They choose to explore the world around them, even though it is shrouded in darkness. They are willing to risk everything for the sake of freedom and self-acceptance. The phrase "niemand komt me halen en niemand roept mijn naam" means that there isn't anyone coming to get them or call them back. They are taking responsibility for their lives and making their own choices.
Overall, the lyrics describe a person who feels trapped and isolated in a society that is too controlling. They want to break free from this constraint and make their own choices. The chorus of the song is a powerful message of self-acceptance and self-realization.
