Brightman, a friend of Maske, approached Bocelli after she heard him singing "Con te partirò", whilst she was dining in a restaurant. Changing the title lyric of the song from "Con te partirò" (I’ll go with you) to "Time to Say Goodbye", they re-recorded it as a duet with members of the London Symphony Orchestra and sang it as a farewell for Maske. On 23 November, Maske lost the match on points, beaten by American champion Virgil Hill and retired from boxing. As the German public paid tribute to their departing hero, the arena was filled with the sound of "Time to Say Goodbye". The single was released and went straight to the top of the German charts where it stayed for fourteen weeks. With sales nearing three million copies, and a sextuple platinum award, "Time to Say Goodbye" eclipsed the previous best-selling single by more than one million copies.

Facce son' diverse
Era la mia città
Non la conosco più
La ora io sono solo un'estranea
Senza patria
I remember you were there
Any true devotion
Anytime, anywhere
Case son' cambiate
Voci son' diverse
Era la mia città
Non la conosco più
La ora io sono solo un'estranea
Senza patria
I remember you were there
Any one emotion
Any true devotion
Anytime, anywhere
Tanti, anni son' passati
Vite son' cambiate
Era la mia città
Non la conosco più
E ora io sono solo un'estranea
Senza patria
The lyrics of Sarah Brightman's song Anytime Anywhere convey a feeling of alienation and detachment from one's own hometown, which has become unrecognizable due to the changes that have taken place over time. The first stanza mentions the changes that have taken place on the streets and faces, making the city unrecognizable. The singer expresses her feeling of being a stranger in her own city, feeling disconnected and without a home. She is unable to recognize the place she used to call home, and the changes have made her feel lonely and isolated.
The second stanza continues this theme of change and loss, referencing the change in voices and homes. The singer again expresses her feeling of estrangement and detachment from a place that was once so familiar to her. The chorus, "I remember you were there, any one emotion, any true devotion, anytime, anywhere," reflects on the comfort of memories and the human capacity to feel a connection to a place or person despite changes and distance over time. Despite feeling like a stranger in her own city, the singer still holds a connection to the memories and emotions that once tied her to it.
Overall, the lyrics of Anytime Anywhere by Sarah Brightman explore the feeling of displacement and disconnection from home and the power of memories to connect us to places and people, even after they have changed beyond recognition.
