Sarah Fimm Lyrics

You're no longer welcome.
Some little voice inside of me said take your feet and walk away.
Count to ten.
Take it slow.
It's as though it's no one's fault at all.
Don't turn around.
Just walk away.
Walk away.
How did I hurt you?
Let me make it all ok
Before we part and we believe that this was all there was to say.
Will you be guest?
Make the change.
It's as though it's no one's fault at all
Put on your walking shoes
See you the next time you pass through the next time I will have to ask you to...
Walk away.
And I never said this would be easy
I can hardly stand.
We just keep
Spinning around
Spinning around it
I wish you well.
You can take your bow.
I'll take what's left of me now...
And walk away.
The lyrics to Sarah Fimm's song "December" are deeply emotional and speak to the pain and difficulty of ending a relationship that has gone sour. The song begins with the singer addressing someone who is no longer welcome in her life and telling them to "take your feet and walk away." However, there is a certain level of hesitation and doubt evident in these lyrics; the singer admits that there is a "little voice inside of me" that is telling her to do this, but it's not clear whether she truly believes it's the right thing to do. This uncertainty is further emphasized in the lines "Count to ten. Take it slow. It's as though it's no one's fault at all." The singer seems to be trying to convince herself that there's no blame to be assigned and that this is just the way things have to be.
The song's chorus is a haunting repetition of the phrase "walk away," underscored by a mournful piano melody. The singer pleads with the person she is addressing, asking them how she hurt them and begging them to let her make it right before they part ways. But ultimately, she seems resigned to the fact that this is just how things have to be, both in this moment and going forward. The lyrics "And I never said this would be easy / I can hardly stand / We just keep spinning around" capture the sense of helplessness and sadness that can come with the end of a relationship.
